Hello All,

Ralph from New Ipwich, New Hampshire. I've been seeing the ad in the PCA mag for some time now and decided to check out the site. I own a 1983 944, 45K mile, 3 owner car. Black on black. Along with the written bill of sale and window sticker, I have all the receipts going back to the first oil change. I was able to make contact with the cares first owner several years back after finding his address in the owners manual. My first and only Porsche and she's a beaut. Not perfect, but still a very nice example. Love taking her to car shows 'cause as you all know, you don't see a lot of 944's at the shows. At least not here in the East.

I'd love to have an older model Caymen, but retirement is only 16 months away. Perhaps after I retire???

Formerly of CT, the better half and I moved up here in April of 2022 although we've been coming here for almost 20 years now. Looking forward to spring here in Southern NH so I can get the 944 back out on the road.

Hi Ralph and a big welcome to Carpokes! It's great that you signed up, introduced yourself and posted pictures. Thanks!

The fact that you have such an original, well-documented 40-year-old 944 is amazing! The additional facts that it's had only three owners and that you were able to talk to the first owner puts your car in rarefied air in my unqualified opinion.

As I've said to other 944 members joining up here, there is a wealth of knowledge for the models. Lots of experience and how-tos at Carpokes. Chime in and post as many pictures as you care to!

Welcome aboard Ralph! Great car and back story! It's great to see an early 944 treated so well over so many years. Not all early 944s were so lucky! Glad you joined up and looking forward to having you aboard. As others have said, the 944 is very well represented here. I'm a 20-something-year 944 Turbo owner myself. :) --Tom

Hi. I'm Tom Novicki from central Wisconsin. I've been a gearhead for over 40 years, most of those gears being of German origin, but only got my first Porsche last January, a 2004 40 Jahre, #1342. Coincidentally the deal occurred on my birthday, so quite a present to myself indeed. My first drive of a 911had occurred two months earlier, but I immediately "got it". On one hand I regret not having bought a 911 sooner, but on the other feel like I'm now experienced enough to understand the car and its dynamics.

This picture was taken the second day of ownership. (And no, I wasn't busted already. The police parked their vehicles in the public parking lot where I took this picture.)

First off, thank you for your service. Secondly, I hope you’re enjoying the heck out of that Cayman! I’ve currently got a 2013 Panamera GTS, but keep thinking of going back to one where the engine sits behind the driver again.

Nice 40th Anniversary 996! It looks brand new in the pic you posted. They didn't make many - 1,963 if what I just read is correct. Good find and a great way to become part of the Porsche family - it's never a bad time to join!

And welcome to Carpokes! We are all appreciative to everyone who stops by to check out everything. There is a growing treasure trove of information and incredible experience-driven data here backed by many good people, so enjoy your time with us!
