Hi and welcome to Carpokes! Glad you found us - Tom has worked tirelessly to create this friendly spot for lovers of Porsches and sports car culture in general.ASMR_IRL wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 6:37 pm Hi Fellow Porsche Friends!
Been looking for a Friendly Porsche Forum for awhile now. Glad I found one finally. I have so many questions…
And now a little about myself and my love for Porsches.
First off, my father was a helicopter maintenance test pilot in the Army and mom was German so Dad always had Porsches under construction in the garage. Through the years I grew up around a 1957 356, 1972 911 Targa (converted to 935), 1984 928 (mom’s car), 1982(I think?) 924, 1973 914, and others even I can’t remember. My Dad was President and Mom was Treasurer of PCA Germany Region for many years.
I bought my first Porsche (which I still own) in 1989. A 914 which I originally put a 2L in and then later a 3L 911 SC for some oomph. Sadly the rust may be terminal and might be time to put to pasture. I’ve also owned a 1985 928 S2.5.
I also currently own a 2012 911 Turbo Cab with a 6 speed MT. One of the last Turbos with a manual six. She’s crazy fast and makes me break the law every time I drive it.
I bought a 2014 Cayenne Platinum Diesel for camping and my dogs. I’ve driven her from Texas to Burningman (twice) and all the way to Ocean Shores Washington. She eats miles.
I work in cyber security and currently on the lookout for a 911 SC (non-Cab) to use the parts from my 914/6.

I'm glad you found us too! There is always a sense of camaraderie and friendship at Porsche get-togethers, and my goal from the start was to capture that spirit as part of our online forum. Your intro and story make me confident you've found the right place.ASMR_IRL wrote: Sat Mar 18, 2023 6:37 pm Been looking for a Friendly Porsche Forum for awhile now. Glad I found one finally. Thanks! It is pretty but sadly I think the rust has progressed to the structural areas and frame. I am afraid to jack it up to find out for sure. It started life in Colorado back in the 70s when they salted the roads and it never really had a chance.
