I hope everyone realizes that it is impossible to see what color they are once the plate is installed.

And for that reason, I'm planning to have a batch CNC'd in black ABS plastic -- my little printer has help up amazingly well, but it takes too long to do these in bulk. :) That said, lots of track guys use these mounts because they have to remove the plate to expose the tow hook for the track. That's the one situation where the mounts are visible, but even then, plenty of cars have black plastic brackets, etc.... I'll still do 3D printed ones in color on request, but will default to black once the CNC versions are ready. :)

Tom, when you get the batch CNC'd in black ABS plastic for the 718, can you sign me up for another set? I already purchased a pair of your original 718 license plate brackets for myself and a fellow 718 friend (received last week!), but my car won't be delivered for at least 1.5 months while it waits for the model year 2022 EPA/CARB certification. I figure I can always use the extra mount with one of my other cars. For example, my wife's MK7.5 GTI has the license plate screwed directly into the plastic bumper, so I'd love to be able to take the license plate off when I detail her car. Thanks!

Hi guys. I’m new to the group, and am excited to be here. I saw on another forum a link to Tom’s license plate brackets. Genius! A quick question of Tom. It appears the 992 T is Tom’s and I’m curious about the rear license plate “surround thingy”. This piece is US only from what I’m seeing. I just saw a picture of one of the first 992.1 GT3’s in the US and it has the license plate surround thingy too, just like Tom’s Turbo. It appears this piece is put on in Germany. Does anybody know how the surround thingy is attached to the bumper? Is it just stuck on with double sided tape? Can it be removed with “floss”? I have a 992 GT3 that is on order, and I’d rather just use Tom’s brackets and remove the surround piece. The early press cars in the US did not have this piece, and that’s what I’d prefer. Looking forward to hearing if anybody has any further thoughts on this topic. Thanks, Mitch

Hey Mitch, yes, that's my car. I just looked and can't tell for sure how it is attached, but it doesn't really 'seem' like molding tape. I can't see behind mine to look for fasteners since that whole area is sealed off by a cooler duct. Let me see if I can drum up someone who would know for sure. I'm guessing the bumper cap needs to come off and fasteners removed from behind, but that's just a guess. If so, hopefully the mounting holes are behind the plate area and not exposed even with the plate on... How sure are you the GT3 is like the Turbo S? On my Turbo, the tow hook is not behind the plate, and traditionally that's where Porsche put it on the GT3 cars....?

p.s., it looks like you posted as a guest. I didn't realize that was possible on this forum, so just disabled guest posting here.
