My air-cooled Porsches are all in the past, as I'm currently driving a 718 Cayman. But before that...

A red 911sc coupe is pretty much the ultimate icon of a Porsche in my eyes. Beautiful car! But we have to see that interior!Papa Speedster wrote: Fri Apr 28, 2023 8:00 am I just add one to the stable! I bought my wife a 1983 911 sc for her Birthday

Hmmmm. I've heard that one before - "it's for my wife." In fact, it's one I've used more than once over the years!
Nice 993 for you and your wife! Congrats!!

That car is a dead ringer for the first Porsche I almost bought, without the pasha though. The one I looked at was a Euro-spec car that my boss ended up owning when a client couldn't take possession for unknown reasons. It had a higher compression engine that made great power, but it would ping on US gas and we discovered a pulled head stud through the PPI. In hindsight, I wish I bought it. If memory serves, we had agreed on $18k for it, with 30k miles.

Hey Tom this too is a Euro spec car. I was pleasantly pleased when it arrived Tuesday. Original paint, new brakes, clutch
And had motor rebuild with 20k on it.

It's been a while, but the little orange parking light on the side is a Euro-spec thing only, right? Either way, the side marker on your car is what prompted the memory really. Be careful with pinging! California has lower octane and higher alcohol than a lot of states, so maybe that compounded it, but on that '83-euro I drove you could hear it ping when you floored it and the poor head stud couldn't take it. Honestly, the car pulled like a train (noticeably better than the US-spec cars I test drove), but I assume it was a ticking timebomb with one stud already pulled out of its threads.Papa Speedster wrote: Fri Apr 28, 2023 12:09 pm Hey Tom this too is a Euro spec car.
