Hello Carpokeans!
Newbie here, found this forum in my first Panorama magazine.
Name: Woody
Location: Austin, TX
First P car was a 1984 Carrera, car was great and was prepping it for track use when the state (Hawaii) decided to close down the race track.
Didn't want to put everything back to stock, and ended up selling the car for gulp...$19k :(
That was back in 2006, and now I just purchased a "CPO" 991.1 S and it's been at the dealers 3x now and is still there at this moment...some CPO! But that's another story for another time....Stealer Story too!

Semi retired Shipping/Receiving/Security person for USGB/TXBD...working 30hrs a week and considered full time, just not a full time 40hrs a week...like it this way!

Well enough about me, and this is more than I usually post about myself, so now it's time to go surfing and check out the Carpokeans posts to see what's what and whose who!
Aloha!

Aloha and welcome to Carpokes! My first POrsche was an '85 Carrera and I sold it for $20k back in the late 90's. Oh well.... I retired in my mid-50's from my grown-up job and now work around the clock on Carpokes and Porsche parts and projects. :)

p.s., sorry about the CPO problems. I guess it would be even worse without the CPO coverage....?

Hi Woody,
Thanks for joining Carpokes. Please keep us updated as the ‘dealer’ sorts out your 991’s issues. What color is your car? I hope you like it here!
Thanks,
Larry

Hi Tom & Larry!
At this point I would rather have not purchased this 991 "CPO".
The dealer I purchased it from does not have very good ethics...then again it is a stealership, so I guess good ethics and stealership is an oxmoron!
The dealership it is at now is great, they are trying to figure out my airbag light situation. They even gave me a loaner, which I haven't used...a little too much on the electrical goodies/nannies for me.

The "CPO" was done by another dealership in GA, the car was purchased by the dealership in TX, where I purchased it from, and was told they did not do the CPO, just passed the car through.
It turns out the car has aftermarket front control arms (not sure what brand or why) and brake shims (again not sure why)
Seems like the car may have been tracked with the aftermarket stuff...brake shims to help with heating issues?
The good news is the PDK was replaced by Porsche 4k miles ago...was it because of tracking? Not sure.

When I do drive the car I like it, but it has been in the dealerships garage more than it has been in mine.
I just got my license plates on last Friday, and yet I purchased the car back on May 13th...the temp plates expired on the 12th of this month....good thing the car was in the dealership garage...LOL!

So I have been driving my 2000 Subaru Outback XT Touring with hopes to have my CS back soon.
I need to install my JoyAuto in the CS, but just can't have the car long enough to work on it...LOL!

Ok, venting session is now over...Great to be here!
Aloha!

Hi there Woody. I'll throw in my 2¢ "Welcome to Carpokes" post! You've already given me a smile on the "protecting the protector that's the protector for ..." and now this.

Definitely heading in the right direction - you'll fit in just fine at Carpokes. :D Glad you found us.

Hello Everyone!

I'm Sivaprasad from Sweden, owns a1987 944S. I have already made a few posts but bumped onto this thread today.
Working as an engineer and interested in cars which led to acquire the 'S' last fall. The car has a recorded maintenance history but still some of the regular and required activities seemed to be skipped, covered in oil and so trying to figure it out and fix it at my friend's garage.

This forum had given me a hope to DIY the maintenance job by myself and a huge thanks to everyone including Tom!
Adding what I made so far! Hoping to make a few more as time permits.
