J-Dub,
Have you been running the RE71-RSs in 255//19 and 285/19 sizes ? For some reason I thought you might be running a bit smaller size and if so do move up as they are stellar at this size.

I have completed two set of them at the 255/35 and 285/35-19 size. I do like them, the rear typically slips first especially if I get back on throttle too early or hard. It is really nice for throttle steer and trail braking to get the car to rotate.

I am considering adding a small rear spacer to bias more grip back to the rear... as a test.

I considered other tire sizes and tire models but noting really fits the wheels I have as well. Wider tires really should have wider wheels and I am telling my self these are nice and light in this configuration.

I have my third set on order, expect them any day.

J-Dub, love the V-Dub!! I remember now, the difference between our two cars is you are running smaller wheels than I am. I have 9 inch in front and 10.5 inch in the rear. I am hoping, after installing the Rennline GT3 front A-Arms, I can get to -3 degrees negative camber up front and then I can stuff a 265 up front. I have a set of Hoosiers ( 18s ) in 295s for the rear, but those wide rubber donuts need more camber for me to bump up from 255.

PS - looks like you need to blade some OPR off those RE-71RSs, ha! The dang things do pick up plenty of track rubber!

I've been waiting for (and asking for!) a pic of the VW. Very nice and that's also a super color! I love the dark greens and blues.

Tried to beat blueline in the amount of bugs on the front end after a track event. Instructed on Friday at MPH ( racemph.com ) in Hastings,Ne. and my student had a cool , silver , older 911 Carrera 4S with a Supercharger installed -- she did scoot! I am pretty sure my insect death count along with those pesky flying rubber debris bugs , exceeded Mr. Blueline's from a few weeks back!

Also note the lovely sign about noise at this track -- eat your heart out California drivers, ha!~

This sign replaced the old one, which was done in the style of the ' Ghostbuster's Circle " with the red line through it. Just a simple sign with " Sound Restrictions " written in the middle and that nice red slash angling across the wording, ha. Surprisingly I don't remember anyone ever getting in trouble out here for noise even with the groups that monitor it, SCCA, PCA Club Racing, etc.

Got another set of RE71-RSs mounted up on my track wheels yesterday. My next planned track day got canceled so I put my street wheels back on and wrapped up my track wheels in these Porsche logo tire totes I got from Suncoast. So far I am thoroughly impressed with the quality and value for the price.

I also spent some time this morning removing bugs and tire rubber from the lower portion of the car since I had it up on jack stands. The is my second track day with the RGS grill guards and the second time I have had to reposition them from being hit by flying debris, tire turds etc.

I think I got you both beat on bugs. Driving at Thunderhill. ...I actually don't know if I was getting the right amount of cooling anymore.
