I've been doing some research on this as I plan on swapping out the paddle shifters at some point this year, and have seen cross-posts about swapping out these wheel trims. It definitely require wheel removal to get access to the screws in the back for the trim removal.
What's leading me down a rabbit hole is:
- Are all 718 wheels the same with the same connector to clock spring?
I'm seeing differences where some have orange/red or green/yellow connectors.
- There are mentions of getting CEL's after re-connecting the battery, and methods to prevent it ranging from keeping doors open, windows up/down, or waiting x-minutes after disconnecting batteries
note: I don't have the answers yet, still just researching
