The GTS Chronicles

Hey everyone,
Those of you who are familiar with the 718 forum will likely already know about us, but I thought it would be good to share our story here in Carpokes as well.
My good friend Andrew and I have simultaneous orders for two 718 GTS 4.0s (1Boxster, 1 Cayman), both in Carmine Red, both manuals, and specced in a very similar manner. We've ordered them (16 months ago!) with European Delivery and have a really grand dream of doing a super-detailed content piece of the whole experience, shared as driving buddies. This idea has evolved and morphed to the point where we actually think -- if done right -- it could actually be something in which Porsche might see some brand value and who knows, might want to collaborate on.
We also thought that maybe the Carpokes community might want a peek at what we have in mind. Check it out!
- And finally, a web page describing what The GTS Chronicles is (and a bit of our backstory): gtschronicles.com
We encourage you to subscribe to and/or re-visit this thread from time to time. We will be using it for posting updates of how things are going on our journey, as well as various tidbits that are in some way relevant. Additionally, let us know if you have any feedback or observations.
Cheers,
@lukesward &
@alavigne

Welcome to Carpokes and thanks for joining. This thread is one of the more interesting Porsche threads I’ve ever seen. You guys have a great idea. I own a 2022 Cayman GTS 4.0 and have read every road test and car review, some more than once. If collaboration with Porsche doesn’t come to fruition, have you thought of collaboration with the PCA for their Panorama magazine or collaboration with the folks at 000. Please keep us informed of each phase of your endeavor.

Thanks,
@Larry C - that is very kind praise. I'm the other half of the GTS Chronicles duo, and pleased to meet you.
I recall fellow carpoker
@wdr911 (who has been a cheerleader of our chronicles idea for quite a while now) mention the idea of collaborating with PCA and the magazine. For sure, I think that is a great idea. However, I always thought of that collaboration maybe happening after we got our cars back here to North America after an amazing and well-documented ED experience. But now that I think of it, it is quite possible that PCA would be interested in covering the ED story itself. Definitely something to keep in mind.
Ideally I have visions and fantasies that Porsche Gmbh would maybe lend us some moral support and some content generation advice. I'm sure they've got a pro team of content creators as well as experience and guidelines that could give us some tips/direction.
These days
@lukesward and I are primarily doing these three things:
- waiting for our allocations (16 months and running now)
- trying to dream up interesting and new content for the @gtschronicles instagram feed (can be hard when you don't actually have the cars yet)
- practicing content generation techniques

Gents:
Carpokes exists for all of us 'hopeless enthusiast car nerds.' You've come to the right place. Welcome!
1. I'd like to offer you a banner ad on this site (free) to help get the word out about your project.
2. I do freelance writing for Panorama (and did an article in 000), so may be able to make some introductions if helpful.
3. Your project is new to me just now, but it's screaming Carpokes to me, so I'd love to find some ways to work together. I have some initial ideas, but open to any/all thoughts.
Email me at
Admin@carpokes.com if interested. Either way, welcome to Carpokes! Hoping it's a great success and that we get plenty of updates along the way.

Welcome guys, I'm excited about your project, I'll be anxious to see the fruits of your labors. Don't forget Excellence Magazine, especially if nothing comes from Pano or 000.

Check with your local PCA chapter as they have monthly magazines they send to members also.
The Upper Canada Region magazine, Provinz is always running stories about members’ experiences, re: how they got their car, European delivery, how you originally got interested in Porsche etc.
Upper Canada region covers most of Southern Ontario but as you are in/near Ottawa it may be a different region AFAIK.

Thanks for the tips guys - Andrew and I will pursue this stuff as the months unfold. Tom, we will connect up with you via email. I've been a quiet Carpokes forum member for a while now, originally drawn to it upon hearing about Tom's license plate mount solution

I did recently see Carpokes advertised in one of the mags - can't recall which one now - and thought Hey! Cool!
Cheers,
Luke

Hey folks - just a note that "the pitch" video link at the top isn't working. It seems to be related to ad functionality that's turned on one the carpokes website. In any case, here's the video link not as an actual html href tag:
vimeo.com/706403745
Until we figure this out, just copy/paste that link into your browser if you want to see our (slightly cheesy) pitch video.

It should work now. I just updated the system software and didn't realize until now the update covertly turned on VigLink. Grrr..... It's disabled now. Also, to really make it easy to watch, here it is....
