Curious for those that got the dash cam preparation wiring (I have MY23 BGTS).

The stock Porsche dash cam seems expensive + lower tech than what it seems most more modern dash cameras offer.

Does anyone here have 'you should definitely use an alternative dash cam to the Porsche one, and here is why' and be willing to share a link to their preferred solution?

Maybe some help in audi4t's thread. Mostly about the dash cam prep wiring and how it is configured in case you want to use it for other cameras.

Also, I just did a quick Carpokes search for "dash cam" and there are a few threads there that might help.

I had the 70mai in my coupe - very cheap and did the job

I have prewiring in my ‘23 cab and I have ordered the wiring harness that will connect the Porsche camera to the prewiring - cost is less than $40

I plan to modify the harness to also provide 12v to my radar detector so I won’t need a mirror tap

As far as I can tell the Porsche camera is powered at 12v while most aftermarket dash cams are 5v

I may also connect a 12v to 5v converter to the harness to provide a feed to my 70mai or I may just buy the Porsche camera

I’ve been told when u order the camera from your dealer and provide your vin the cab gets just a front camera the coupe gets a front and rear camera !!!
