Anyone using the LN Engineering Spin On Oil Filter adapter?

Thinking about installing it for my next oil change in my 918C. Due to the location of the oil filter in the 981, it always is very messy when trying to wrestle out the cartridge and filter insert.

I have the LN adapter on my '99' 986. It is well made and installs easy. It was ordered through Pelican Pts along with a filter. The biggest drawback to the spin on filter is the more involved task of breaking it open to see what it might have collected. Choosing the best filter for the job is as much a task for me as selecting the best oil. I like the kit, it does its job.

I used it on my 987 Cayman and my 981 CGTS, very impressed. I'd be using it on my GTS 4.0 but it's still under warranty.

I installed one on my 997 and am very happy with it. The one thing I did that wasn't in the instructions is I put some Permatek 2 on the threads of the adaptor before securing it into the block. You probably don't need it, but I like the stuff for most things like this and it's nice to know I'll never have a drip out of it.

If you tear your oil filter open as I do, you will want to buy an oil filter cutter tool. About $30 on Amazon and indispensable tool!

I have them on two cars. When I open them up I’m always surprised how much less “filter paper” there is compared to the OEM filter.

I just installed this item on my 06 987. Wondering if the shorter filter moving less oil thru it makes a difference. I noticed that the amount of oil i has to replace back into the oil reservoir was a quart less. The PCA tech was not a fan. Any comments, is the long OEM paper filter better or the short Napa Gold?

I used one on my 987, and was happy with it. Sold the car with @90,000 miles, no problems. There is a linger version of the NAPA gold filter but I don't have the number handy.

The height of the Napa 1042 or any comparable brand with the LN adaptor is the same height as the stock plastic Porsche filter housing. I would not go to a taller capacity spin-on filter as it may hang down too far and potentially could bottom out on the road. As to the spin-on having less capacity, if you are changing the filter every 5-10k miles, it is of no consequence. If you are doing the extended oil changes as in your owners manual (which I would never recommend), I'd stick with the stock filter.

BTW, this filter (Napa 1042) fits a ton of GM vehicles from 1975 to 2012. I go on Rock Auto and search for an oil filter for a '06 Corvette and there are a bunch to choose from. I've used the Mahle, Bosch, and Baldwin and they are all excellent filters.

Just put one on my 718 base and think it will be an easier oil change job. No dif in oil pressure thru the rpm.

I was going to install one on my 987.2 until I read the article from Ln engineering about how Napa oil filters are being made in China.
