Carpokes

I’ve often found that car aficionados collect other things. I used to collect watches until I got my first iPhone and realized that I couldn’t drive a watch. What do you collect? Watches, comic books, sports memorabilia? If you feel inclined, please describe your collection(s) and post photos!

I don't know squat about watches (see my $35 Amazon Chinesium Timex pictured below as proof) but your Grandad's pocket watch is outstanding, as well as the 1960’s 18kt gold Patek Philippe.

My personal preference is for unadorned, very clean watches and the gold 60's Patek fits that to a tee! It looks brand new too. (Christmas is only 9-months away Larry...)

Since I've been involved in Scouting since I was 8 I collect BSA patches, mugs, belt buckles, etc. The past few years I've been selling some and giving some away to young Scouts.

I also collect guns, mostly WWII rifles and machine guns.

Let's see...some quality firearms, mostly pistols and revolvers. I also have a fondness (weakness) for coins - old and commemorative and the like. Music & LP's although I've thinned them out a bit, as well as doing a lot of culling of books that grew in numbers over the years. Do outside plants and trees and a native flower garden count? Lol.

Yeah, other than 944 parts, I don't really collect much I guess. I have a big collection of old Genii Magazines from the 1970's, back when I was determined to be a professional magician. Also have more Panoramas than anyone would ever need -- decades of them. I got close to collecting old Victrola's after restoring my great-great-grandparent's Blue Bird Talking Machine, but my future flashed before my eyes when I saw the house of a collector who helped replace the spring mechanism -- wind-up record players everywhere! So, I limited myself to finding old records to play on the machine I had. That cabinet below the turn-table has several hundred records from back in the day - some of which will turn to chalk if disturbed. Fun fact, Victrola was the best known brand, but there were dozen of companies making wind-up record players just after the turn of the century. Transporting these things around the country was an expensive challenge, so local companies would spring up. Most would just build their own cabinets and use the playing mechanisms from one of the popular suppliers. This one was made in 1921 (signed and dated by the person who made it inside) in Los Angeles, and somehow transported up to Sonoma where my ancestors were.

Nice! The emblem and the ad and its wording are fantastic even without the Blue Bird and its 3/4" thick (!) paneled construction.

I have collected & restored vintage race Go Karts for over 20 years now.Everything I own is pre 2000 Karts.I spend alot of time at west coast kart tracks doing my best to scare the crap out of myself in old Go Karts!It's a alot of fun at 65 MPH 3/4" off the ground feels like 200MPH.All the kart are air cooled two cycle engines mounted in the rear like an air cooled 911.I have some that are air cooled "side winder" Karts with the engine mounted on the side.

I really think driving Karts has made a much better driver in the GT-4.I highly recommend people spend some time in Karts it will make you a better driver.

I have had a couple writes up's in the Italian Kart magazine "Vroom" on my restorations.Karting in Europe it's huge in both vintage & modern karting.It's pretty much the spring board into F1.

That's so cool!! The red #4 car looks wickedly fast! Great collecting hobby and congrats on the write-ups too!
