Seemed almost promising going in. Not so much when it all came out the sidewall...
Bad day in 992 :(

Woke up this morning to find that someone had broken into our daily drivers to steal whatever they could find, which was not much fortunately. Then went to the coast with my wife for lunch, and totally missed seeing a curb in a parking lot. Such a bonehead move. Front passenger wheel went over it, with obligatory road rash, scratches under front valance, and a gash in the tire. We were 50 miles from anywhere, so I tried the tire goo in the frunk, only to have it fly out the side of the tire when I tried to put air in it.
That was a waste, and I can probably add a new tire pressure monitor to the bill now. Tire, wheel rash repair, and valance cosmetics at a minimum, assuming (fingers crossed) nothing else got bent or damaged underneath. Sigh....

Oh no. Sorry to hear about both of those, especially the curb "ding".'
Those jerks that break into cars just looking for stuff like that have become quite a thing around here these days too. A few months ago they managed to get about $300 in tools out of my truck bed, then raided all of the other cars on our street too. A camera picked them up in the distance at around 4am but it was so dark it proved to be useless.
Best wishes for a flawless repair!

Sorry to hear you’ve had such a run of back luck! We’ve all danced a little to close with a curb-sorry to see yours resulted in a flat bed transport. It can all be fixed and you’ll be back to enjoying your 911 in no time.

Aww man.. Sorry to hear about that! Its not fun when the "to do list" grows for sure....
Nothing pisses me off more than when someone feels entitled to stuff they didn't earn. It would have set off my day on the wrong foot! I had a backpack blower stolen out of the bed of my truck a few years back.. in my driveway... infuriating. Been lucky with car break-ins though... knock on wood...

So sorry to hear what happened to you and the car, that little treasure on wheels. Call Bruce Canepa, he'll hook you up with a bodyshop. I do miss the security of a spare tire....like many, I no rely on AAA.

Happy to report that the car is back, with a new tire and all signs of road rash magically removed. The whole thing was much less expensive than I was expecting, with the new tire being the biggest chunk at $299. I assumed the tire alone was going to be twice that... I may have a body shop look at the scratches on the bottom of the front winglet. I could ignore it since you don't normally see it, but it is a painted section of the car and I know it's there, so we'll see....
A huge public thanks to the service guys at Porsche of Fremont. They stayed late on a Friday night waiting for me and the flatbed to arrive and get the car secured inside, and then took care of the tire and wheel by Tuesday afternoon and inspected everything in the shop and on the road to make sure it was driving like new. Those guys, Gunter, Scott and Cory in particular, are a huge reason why I keep going back for cars, parts, service, all things Porsche.

Sounds like an OK recovery. My first glance at the wheel included the tire goop that looked a lot more like metal damage. Glad that wasn't the case.
