Does anyone have any experience with replacement seats in a 996. I need lateral support for my mountain road driving especially since my bout with “Tail of the Dragon” in NC. My stock seats need to be recovered anyway and the cost makes a Recaro Speed seat an attractive alternative. All information and opinions appreciated.

I had Recaro's in a former AMG - I loved those seats - very supportive around the twisties.

For my MY 2002 996 I easily replaced the stock seats with Euro GT3 seats and had no issues at all with seatbelt warning light (or anything else)

Tell me more about those seats! They look awesome. What car are they from?

The Recaros I specified in a CLA45 AMG that I purchased in 2014

That car I picked up in Stuttgart at the Mercedes factory and drove it around Europe for 17 days before shipping it back to the US

It was a great car - both fast and maneuverable- the seats enhanced the experience !!!

An update:
Had to replace the top on the 996, so I decided to replace the seat covers with new leather at the same time and will consider a sale for a newer S coupe with a sport seat package. I actually found recaros in stock at a large Summit store and they brought them out for me to try on. Really nice seating but the added cost of mounting kits held me back while the top and seat restoration looks primo and is actually cost effective though not by much.
