PCM Update Issues

Hello,
I took my 992 for a service and they updated the PCM/software to the latest version...which is now very colorful (v3) and personally I do not like it compared to V2.
Anyways... I have lost all traffic updates on the map; I have lost the weather uplink system, and also when I turn on my Recirc and Ionized air, I used to get 2 icons that appear on the far right box advising that the systems were engaged, now those 2 icons simply do not appear.
Are others having this issue? I suppose the most obvious is the loss of traffic on the map. I have checked both my Sirius and Porsche subscriptions and both are active and paid for.
Thank you,
M.

PCM is the most confusing piece of technology and detracts from the Porsche experience, as does a lot of Porsches software.
I have the “latest” update and rarely interact with it.
I use Waze maps and Pandora radio within CarPlay and that’s it.
My SA at the dealership set up my preferences and homelink in the car and fortunately I haven’t had to mess with anything.
I recently installed a Porsche Dashcam and haven’t been able to get the app and camera to communicate with each other !!!
I read recently Porsche has hired a new IT guy from another manufacturer to lead the technology group - so hopefully things will improve

My PCM had some kind of hardware malfunction, so they replaced the whole unit. My tech went to great lengths to ensure all the settings were transferred over to the new unit, so literally everything worked as it did before -- homelink, GPS locations, favorite stations, etc. Sounds like someone just wasn't that careful when they reflashed yours. If they can transfer all settings to a brand new PCM, they can certainly do the same for a software update. Next time I'm in my car I'll compare to what you are getting. I've never used traffic updates, so am curious if I ever had it?? (My car is a '21 -- so maybe different?)

Thats wild to do a whole PCM change!! I honestly didnt even know the PCM had an issue until I picked it up and they told me there was a recall I missed; and boom I suddenly had the new software...I hate all the new colors!!
My car is a '22 992 (Jan2022 delivery). It came with what I call V2 PCM softwares (which was black and white throughout but updated from what they sold in the original 992 from 2020 and 2021. Then they updated it again to the new colorful system (you can tell if you left side column are in colors (the melody and nav symbol are in red I think)...anyways, I hate this one.
As for traffic, ive always had it overalayed onto the map - it's incredibly useful. And with resepct to the AC icons...all the way on the right side of the screen there's a number of icons that are displayed that show different elements of the car...if you turn on Recirc air and/or Ion Air...1 and/or 2 new icons appear; which are the icons of recirc and ion...however now if I engage both, no icons appear.
Finally I had customized the 2nd homescreen option (press home twice) to have weather in the middle; now it's just blank the whole time...so stupid.

Audi4t is spot on with his PCM assessment, at least as far as I'm concerned. I've said the same thing countless times, including several past comments about the issue on Carpokes.
The sort of crappy nature of the software is a not very well-hidden secret within the Porsche family that most don't talk about - furtive glances only. This includes customers, dealers, SA's, techs, C-suite execs, whomever & whatever! The software as a whole is kind of like the black sheep of the family - sweep everything under the rug and make good use of the hidden and locked attic (or basement) room.
But, back to reality and the positive, as Kevin mentioned, Porsche has cleaned their software house. CEO Blume named Bentley’s Peter Bosch to head up software unit Cariad as software struggles remain a key concern, mostly with the EV roll outs. Several of the top honchos heading the 6,000 employee unit were reportedly let go too.

Maybe things will improve in time but probably not a lot for our cars. I don't have an over reliance on the Porsche interface software anyway. It does what I need it to and the rest is just unnecessary fluff, at least for me. Same for traffic and music - Waze is king for me and I like SiriusXM.

I dont agree with blueline or audi4t at all. I cant stand CarPlay or any of those mock systems, they look so cheap like "my-first-GPS" and they dont allow for any native engagement at all. I am a major user of the native systems and Porsche absolutely hit a homer with the 992 V2 system.
I particularly love the Sport Chrono software to monitor drive times and segments. The app section with weather and specialty performance softwares are excellent secondary additives; and the entire platform for servicing, health monitoring and even live car set-up are executed exceptionally well.
I have experience with many "expensive/luxury" cars and I can assure you with much certainty that Porsche in particular have a highly sophisticated onboard system that is truly A to Z.
The one thing about Porsche though is that not all models share softwares like other companies. The Macan is a mix of 992 V1 and old Macan softwares; the Cayenne uses something else; the Taycan uses something vastly different...so depending on what you drive, then sure, there are discrepancies....however, specially, the 992 V2 system should be the lead for the company.
Unfortunately much of this greatness was lost in the update to V3; which I suppose is like the major IOs updates, which also launch with flaws.
I am hopeful they get the fixes integrated and we see some of the lost functionality and sophistication return.

If anyone is interested - I fixed all of the issues - but not even Porsche knew how.
If you car is in PRIVATE mode, then you will have all the new features, but none will work. The car needs to be taken out of Private, into "Public" mode for everything to work.
Post any updates done to the PCM, you are signed into your PCM account and all is well, except it isn't...the updates push through, but the 1 missing step is that you need to manually sign OUT of the system, cycle the car on and off once, then once its back on, log back into the PCM system with you Porsche.com/MyPorsche account. When asked if you want to remain Private, decline this step.
If you do this, all the features you "lost" will now be back. It seems Porsche (VW) are selling your driving data and this have become more strict about what is Private and what isn't - but Im fine with that I guess, the way of the world today, and as I said before, the PCM is absolutely incredible.
Very Best!

Where is PUBLIC or PRIVATE mode? I've never seen that in my 718.

Respectfully I dont know which system the 718 has onboard; that said, for me, you have to go to Personalization, where my name pops up (or the name associated with my online PCM account); you click on "Settings" and its one of the first options, as this option dictates the remainder of the set up.

It's on my 992 but maybe not on older PCM versions including Boxster/Camans?
I'm not 100% sure but I don't think it's on my '21 GT4 although I never even turn on the PCM in that car.
