Turbo Boost gauge question

Hi
All of a sudden, the turbo boost indicator on my gauge panel doesn't show any measurements. This pic taken while driving in traffic at about 30 mph. It used to show "something" at almost any speed, now it shows zero. The car is at the dealer for a new windshield :-( so I asked them to check it out while they have it. They thought, initially, that it should only show a reading when under strong acceleration. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think you're fine. You have a 991.2 top of the line Targa 4 GTS with a ton of go at your disposal. Driving at a steady speed of 30 mph means that you have almost zero throttle to maintain that speed and there won't be any turbo spool up until you start pushing the accelerator somewhat decisively.

Remember that the turbo itself will be idle if no or very light throttle and the gauge reflects that. That will be true even at higher freeway speeds if driving with a steady but very light throttle. Try punching it a little (mash that accelerator!) and you'll feel the almost instant response and see the gauge react, significantly. If you press the accelerator moderately. you'll see a corresponding moderate boost level on your gauge.

Next time I'm out in my TTS I'll experiment while watching the boost gauge. If anything is different from what I've described I'll let you know! :thumbup:

Just agreeing with this. When cruising at a steady pace, the engine should see a vacuum -- sucking air in, rather than having air forced in -- unless you are cruising at 150mph up a hill. Not sure why it used to always show 'something' unless maybe you previously had it set to display BAR absolute pressure. BAR absolute is 0 to 1 for vacuum and above 1 for boost. I just don't remember if my old 991 could be configured to display that way -- but I don't actually think it could?

peculiar how Porsche elects to put different features on very similiar models!
oh well….I love her anyway!

Have you gone through the options for the gauges to confirm it's not there? My Turbo S does not show it by default either, but if you click through the options you can add it to the display that include coolant temp, etc.

Yes, just like customizing view to get oil temps is sometimes required.
