Is 991.2 the "sweet spot" for looking for a 1st time 911?

Everyone is different in how they fit and how nimble they are. I'm a few years beyond you and feel I still fit as well as anyone in the GT4 with its LWB's (stiff lightweight carbon fiber buckets that basically only slide forward and back). The 911 I have is comfort personified - it's an amazing car to sit in and drive. Cocooned bliss!DocJay wrote: Wed Dec 27, 2023 10:57 am Currently driving '21 Macan GTS...looking to trade it in for my first 911. Concerned how comfortable this 70-yr old guy will fit!
Sports cars obviously sit far lower than your Macan and a 911 may require a different technique for ingress/egress but other than that, they are 100% fine for comfort in my book - awesome drivers! Maybe you can find one to try out at the dealer or from a friend who has one? In any case, I think you'll be pleased!
By the way, welcome to Carpokes!

Hey Welcome! I am quite a bit younger so I can't comment on how comfortable it would be for someone your age, but I might be able to offer some insight.DocJay wrote: Wed Dec 27, 2023 10:57 am Currently driving '21 Macan GTS...looking to trade it in for my first 911. I had a 2023 Macan GTS. One of my pet peeves was that my leg always smacked the bottom of the steering wheel. This was because both how the Macan driver position is set up, but also how I personally get in and out of cars. I have a number of very low sports cars. Some of which I have to pretty much put one foot it, and just let my body collapse into the car, hoping my arms and lets end up where they are suppose to ha.
I found that in a 911 as well as a 718, my leg never hits the steering wheel, so I actually enjoy getting in and out better than in my Macan. But again, that is just the way I get in and out of cars from years of having low cars. A 911 would be a bit more trouble getting out of, since the Macan sits pretty high in comparison so you can basically just hop out. But, I am pretty confident you will have no issue getting in and out of a 911
So I would maybe head to a Porsche dealership, find a 911 and ask your SA if you can get in and out a couple of times ha. You will get an idea pretty quickly.... You will LOVE the feeling when you get in. You feel like you are driving IN something rather than on top of something.
Cheers

I am no expert but I do see the 991.2 as a sweet spot. I prefer the interior design especially.

I had a 2019 911 Turbo that I liked a lot - Chalk over Espresso leather. The transition from that 991.2 to the 992 Turbo S took some getting used to.P_Coastal wrote: Wed Dec 27, 2023 12:50 pm I am no expert but I do see the 991.2 as a sweet spot. I prefer the interior design especially.
Yes, the 991.2 cars are quite fine.

I went from a 991.2 to a 992 and would say the comfort level is essentially the same. Both cars are incredible. They are not especially low (just a bit) and are one of the easier euro-high-performance sports car to enter/exit in my experience. It's not Ford Mustang easy, but nothing at all like this...
I am 70 and have owned 7 911 cars over the past 20 years. Currently own a 2017 C4S 991.2 and is the most comfortable of all my previous 911's. I expect to recieve my 992 911 Turbo and those are similar in comfort....whether club racing or driving long distances ...you will be happy! It's a great fit!

No worries at all, I am a 72 yr. old old fart and I have to get in a Cayman GTS with the GT4 style full bucket seats......getting in a 911 will be a piece of cake.
