Boxster story

I have always wanted a Boxster and a couple of years ago found one right in my backyard (about 20 miles away). 2003 base in speed yellow. I love this color on this car. It had 19000 miles on it. Sadly the original owner had passed away and her husband was selling it after storing it for several years. The son was a mechanic and had taken care of maintenance while it was stored, and prior to that was maintained by the Porsche dealer but no records were available. Given the paucity of maintenance history on the car, I took a bit of a chance. The car was in stunning condition and all original. I bought it, changed all the fluids and the belt, and put new Michelin PS4 tires on it (it still had the original tires on it!). I have upgraded the stereo, installed clear side markers, installed aluminum pedals, and installed a Rennline short shifter this winter and can’t wait to drive it this spring.

Definitely was well cared for - from your photos the car looks new. That was indeed a rare but great close-to-home find.
Original tires at 20+ years old says a lot about the provenance and is a good indicator. (Hopefully no one from the Boxster's original home drove it much at any kind of speed the last 8 or so years with that old rubber!)

She looks mellow yellow and nice situation that the son was a mechanic. It is getting harder and harder to find records on maintenance at Dealerships since most purge their old records to allow for new data and the feeling the old info is no longer pertinent. That info is still wanted and it sure makes sense to use the old fashioned method of recording in the factory maintenance manual. Welcome to Carpokes and do post pics the next time you run her at the track/autocross.

These early boxsters are the gateway drug to newer boxsters. Ask me how I know.....
