Changing Air Filter in Panamera GTS

I just had my 2013 Panamera GTS in for Service --- the dreaded Suspension Fault. They replaced a locked up compressor and all has been good. But after spending $3000 on that repair I was not about ready to cough up $880 for Engine Air Filter replacements. I did some Google searching for some DIY info and not much was available. It looks form what I can gather there are 3 filters to be changed. Two are located in front of either wheel well - requiring the wheel and wheel well liner removal. The 3rd filter seems to be located in the front hood scoop/bumper.

I guess I can now understand the price considering you need to pul the bumper off to get at the center filter. Has anyone done this as a DIY? I'm fairly handy and think I should be able to do it myself in a weekend, but would like a little reassurance from someone who has completed this project.

At the same time, I'll plan on replacing the low-tone horn because right now our panny sounds like a clown car when you hit the horn (high tone only)

Thanks in Advance

I don’t have the answer you requested but I understood it to be one or the other. Either you have one under the bumper cover or two in the wheel wells. My 970.2 Turbo has one under the bumper cover.

That is what has me confused. The dealer quoted for 3 engine air filters - 2 of one type and then 1 of another.

I just double-checked the estimate and it actually lists the part #'s. So it lists the 2 can filters from the wheel wells and the rectangular one from under the bumper. At least they've provided me with part #'s to do my own work :) I'll update this post when i finish this job.

Bumper is easy to remove, but a challenge to reinstall.

Your GTS only has the wheel well air filters, this video explains all of it :-)

$80

All other 1st gen Panamera's 2010-2013 have 1 big filter behind the front bumper

I think the GTS has all 3 - see the pic for the estimate I received from the dealer below.

If I look up the part #'s it links to the 2 cans and the long box filter

I’ getting ready to tackle this on my 2010 4S. I saw a number of helpful videos on YouTube. Sometimes these things look more daunting than they really are.

Not as bad as it seems , I did my GTS all 3 . Took my time and cleaned up everything I could.

My car is a 16 with 48K mi at the time . Filters were dirty but not horrible .

I got the filters from FCP , in the event I hang on to the car.

I removed front wheels and wheel well liners so things really were visible

Head lites pop out , one of mine was stuck .

I also painted the skid portion of the bumper cover while I had it off , cleaned it up a lot .
