Loose threaded insert timing belt cover

Replacing the timing belt.
However, two of the bolts holding the timing belt cover together spin without coming out; the threaded insert is loose.
Instead of spending the $450 on some pieces of plastic, I will jerry-rig it with through bolts if I only could get the bolts out. Anyone had this problem and soled it?

I've seen them spin, but never had a bolt stuck in one. Sorry about that. Probably will need to just get creative to see if you can apply pressure or wedge something in to keep it from spinning. Worst case, I guess you can pull the insert out altogether and/or drill/grind the head off the bolt off. Depending on how much plastic is left, you might be able to repair it with a heat-set thread insert like the one's linked below. I use them almost daily for 3D-printed things, including my 992/718 license plate mounts.
