I was driving in town today in my Taycan. There was a white Audi R8 behind me. I could hear him downshift gears as we approached the traffic lights, and rev his engine. He was a bit close to me. At the next light, he hopped over to the lane next to me at the light. He was going to do a jack rabbit start when the light turned green as he was building up his revs. I don't think he had any idea what I was driving (I don't have Taycan badging on my car). I rotated the drive selector to Sport Plus. I didn't even bother with launch control because I knew I wouldn't need it. The light turned green, he tried to sprint but I was already long gone. I could hear his revs behind me as he tried desperately to make up ground and salvage his dignity. Instead he had to swallow his pride. I don't usually do stop light races, but this time I couldn't resist.

Probably not as impressive but the same thing happened to me yesterday with an RS Q8

Similar thing happened to me. It was a bike instead of a car. I even got a thumbs up from the guy at the next light

A similar thing happened to me while driving through American Canyon from Napa. I could hear the hellcat gunning its engine next to me at the stoplight. However, I just didn't feel like accepting the challenge for some reason, especially when we were near a residential subdivision. When the light turned green, it peeled off, fishtailing, leaving a trail of smoke and burnt rubber. All of a sudden an unmarked police car ( a Cadillac out of all vehicles) pulled out from behind me with lights flashing and sirens blaring in pursuit of the hellcat. Oddly enough, prudence that day, which doesn't happen all that often for me, prevented a speeding ticket, which put a smile on my face.

Sometimes it's prudence, sometimes it's luck. When I first got my Taycan, I moved to Georgia and wasn't too familiar with the local roads. I was at an intersection in one of the two left turn lanes. Next to me was a brand new BMW X6 M with a very impatient driver. At first I didn't pay much attention, but the light took a long time to turn green. The driver in the BMW kept creeping forward. Finally, I decided to give the BMW its first experience with a Taycan. The left turn signal turned green, I stomped on the go pedal, and the BMW was quickly a tiny dot in my rear view mirror.

As I looked further down the road I was on, I spotted a vehicle in the center median. I did not have a radar detector installed yet in the Taycan. I jumped on the brake and moved over to the right hand lane. Thankfully the air suspension minimizes the squat of the front end dipping. Unfortunately, I was still doing above the speed limit when I approached the vehicle, and saw that it was an unmarked police car. As I watched my rear view mirror, I saw the police car pull onto the road and into the right lane behind me. I had that sinking feeling in my stomach waiting for the officer to flip on the blue lights at any moment. Just then, the BMW that I left in the dust, finally caught up. She had no idea that it was an unmarked police car behind me and blew past the both of us in the left lane at a fast clip. The police officer switched lanes and took off after the BMW. I quickly made the first right turn I could find to get my Mamba Green Taycan out of sight. It took a few minutes to process what had just happened, and then I burst out laughing.

I had 2 x mk2 Audi TT’s from 2010, did not take to the mk3, I thought it went too ordinary - that’s why I took time to rack my brain as to what to get next - then I test drove a 718CB and 718CS - got the CS and brilliant, you’ll love it.
