If anyone is going to Werks this week, I'll be the guy in the black carpokes t-shirt and hat. Say hi if you see me.

I'd happily greet you if I was there, Tom. But after fighting the traffic and crowds for Werks in 2017 and then again for Car Week 2022, my wife and I have decided we are never attending events like that in over-populated locations again. Crowds just depress me these days. I guess I'm getting old.

You can add me to that subset of those who prefer crowd and traffic avoidance. Too many places and events are completely nuts in those two respects, among others.
Tom, take photos for us and post them to Carpokes!

You are not alone in those feelings.

Trust me, I get it 100%. Last year, I got trapped at the venue for many (many) hours, as they did just a horrendous job of traffic management and had hundreds of cars waiting to leave for upwards of 5 hours. I vowed never to park in that venue again, as it seems like a clear public safety risk to block so many cars/people into such a confined space with no way out. Our plan is to go very early and park on the street, somewhere, and then hike in. Funny, though, as I type this I'm starting to question this plan...

@Tom
After being stuck for hours several years in a row trying to leave my camping spot at the conclusion of the Watkins Glen F1 race where I camped alongside the track, I did just that. In 1980, I parked my car outside the track on one of the roads leading into the track at the start of the race. Several laps from the end I walked to my car, turned on the radio where I could get local coverage, and started my car as Alan Jones won the race. I was down and off the mountain and on my way when a lot of people were probably just getting to their cars. I'd been there several days and I was always more interested in the cars than the actual race, so I didn't feel as if I'd missed anything by leaving a couple laps short of the finish.
