Changed the stock Sport Chrono dial face to Speed Yellow and now the second dial needle sits at 6 o'clock with a nervous twitch.



There is a '23 post on 718 Forum website where it was suggested the clock/chrono be replaced "hopefully under warranty". No warranty here so....


Anyone who had this issue able to resolve/fix it? Thanks

I have had non-car clocks do this when the battery was dead.

No experience with that particular gauge, but I would be inclined to remove the needle and see if the shaft is actually turning correctly under the needle. I suspect/speculate that it is, and that the needle is just not getting a good grip, such that the weight of the needle makes it hang and point to the lowest number --6. If that's what's happening, either pressing it all the way on, or if too sloppy to grip, a tiny drop of glue might, do the trick... On the other hand, if you pull the needle off and the shaft itself is just twitching like that, then maybe Pal Alto Speedometer can fix it, or eBay. When was trying in vain to make a bezel for that gauge, I eventually found one on eBay. You just need to be careful not to buy one somebody pulled out due to loose needles, as apparently that's a thing across Porsche model lines....

Also very possible! I've done that with other gauges where the needle slopes down toward the face and hits other needles. If you set it to the 7 o'clock position and it runs all the way to where it is now and then gets stuck, that's probably it.

Zoom in on the video. The shaft is flexing because the tip is stuck.

The sweep hand functions properly in clock mode.

Since I don't have Sport Chrono, help me out a little. You are saying the hand works correctly in "clock mode." So what mode is it in when the hand twitches?

When yo use it in chronograph mode when you are timing. It’s works like a stopwatch with pause and reset.

OK. From an electronics viewpoint, if it works correctly as a sweep second hand in clock mode, but not in chronograph mode, something is probably wrong internally and it will likely need to be replaced. Anything else would affect all modes.
