Track Day: 996 911 Turbo vs. 718 Cayman S @ Buttonwillow CW13

Had a great track day with a friend who has been autocrossing his 996 Turbo, and decided to get a fresh set of Kumho V730's for a casual track day at Buttonwillow with Speed District running popular CW13. My Cayman S is stock + APR exhaust (I switched the muffler for the straight pipe in at the track with 4 bolts and loved it) running brand new Bridgestone RE-71RS's

I would consider both of us intermediate drivers who have enough motorsport skill to take advantage of the tires, but were not going to take all the curbs on the Esses or the top of Phil Hill in our street car.

Roughly 16 years apart; These two were surprisingly similar in performance. :D
I want to get some in-car from the 996 and do another more detailed comparison video.

Enjoy:

My friend in the 996 posted his companion video:

Sweet, looks like you were having fun out there. I have not been to buttonwillow in years, I remember most of the turns still.

I am back to being fed up with Porsche TPA, re-watching your lap timer video again.

Fun time and of course like J-Dub and I are a little biased about how well a Cayman carves a course and like you the two of us do wear RE71RSs shoes, ha! I will take those over a set of Kumhos every time and cool for you two to be able to run reasonably close to each other. I have not been to Buttonwillow for a long time either ( no surprise since I live in Iowa ) and though I also remember all the corners I sure don't remember any green grass, hehe!

Thanks for posting !
