Lifting your 944 - QuickJack 5000

I was thinking about purchasing the Quickjack 5000 for use with my 944. (and for just general use with my other cars, winter tire swaps, etc) but mostly for the 944. But everything I see online, the lift points for the 944 at the rocker panels are at the center and rear. Front isn't a jack point, but you're supposed to jack at the front frame rail. So is it safe / viable to actually use this system on the 944's? Also will it even clear the wheelbase of the 944's?

I'll probably get blasted for this one, when using my parents lift, I use the front nubs... Our lift has big rubber pads and it has not damaged the car. I have even left it this way for 24 hours, seems fine.

When I do work on the street, I either use my 4" race ramp wheel blocks, or if I need to remove a tire, I'll use jack stands under the frame rail. Race ramps are a little pricy, but I love them for when I dont need to pull a tire.

It'll clear for sure, I have the 5000TL. The bigger 7000 one might not. I have the extension rails for mine for bigger cars, so that gives me the best of both words.
What I read before is that it's ok to use those front pads if you're lifting the whole car at once - they're just not meant for lifting one corner at a time (although actually you can lift one whole side at a time using the center points). When I use a jack and stands I use the frame rails (but then you do have to be careful of the brake lines, and also ideally use stands with flat pads like Escos.

That makes sense. Ive never jacked up a corner, the center point works perfectly.

Not blasting you at all! That's not our vibe here even if we did disagree -- but I genuinely think you're doing it just right. Lifting the car flat and even on your parent's lift (!! who can say that !!) should be just fine. If not, no commercial shop on the planet could work on a 944.

This is exactly what the shop manuals recommend. The 4 lifting points around the perimeter when using a lift and the single jack point mid span of the rocker panel when using a floor jack. If you use a floor jack at one of the perimeter lifting points, you risk wrinkling/distorting the rocker panel skin.

I made a DIY version of these, with the exception of using hockey pucks & superglue for the all three lifting points, the center one included. Works nicely.
