I just got an offer on a new 992 Turbo to be delivered this year

It's an offer to get a new 992 911 Turbo delivered this fall over the 992 Turbo S that I had ordered (incoming in 2023).

I can order this week, It's a regular Turbo over the Turbo S LW. I have one week to decide.

I can keep my Turbo S order for next year, but not both of them. My guy said the new Turbo S is now a 4 year wait.

What say you? I am leaning to ordering the 2023 Turbo today.

You know my vote. I'm sure the regular Turbo is an incredible car, but unless you are getting it without ceramic brakes, sport exhaust, 18-way seats, etc., you're not saving 'that' much money and, regardless of price, the S has 70 horsepower more than the non-S, and it's pretty important to have all 642hp on tap when you head to Starbucks in the morning. :)

Tom,
I am 50:50 on either deal: I could wait for the Turbo S or get a deal on the slower Tubo this year. I will sit down with my trusted salesman this week to determine my direction.

Either way, I will keep my current 2020 992 Porsche 911 Carrera.

Let's face it, you can't go wrong. My 991.2 Turbo S had 580hp and it was just ridiculously fast. The 992 Turbo has nearly the same, plus all the new model improvements that I'm sure combine to make it faster still. No rational person could drive that car and decide it needs more horsepower. :) If you option it up, I suspect the resale value will suffer vs the S with a similar MSRP. I'd say it comes down to whether you'd end up paying for a lot of standard options on the S; and how important it is to you to get it sooner. You certainly wouldn't be the first to conclude the Turbo is plenty and then some...

It does seem like 1st word issues here,

I've mentioned the older Porsche cars here. This is a place for all Porsche guys. I've been a big supporter of the early air cooled cars and know those cars are great and really easier to work with:

I started here with mechanical valve adjustments.

4 Years? Give me a break! The dealer doesn't know what allocations they're going to get from one quarter to the next. Best case scenario for a dealer is if they have what is called their next years "Planning Potential". With the economy sure to slow down over the next 6 months to a year this could very easily become a buyers market instead of the insane sellers market it is right now.

There are ways to get Turbo S hp from a Turbo. I say get the car you want and don't set yourself up for regret. If you're happy holding onto your current 911 for another year, the S will probably be worth the wait. But if the Turbo checks most of the boxes and you don't see regretting that decision down the road, pop on the Turbo.

I missed the 4 year comment but agree that sounds like a salesman trying to sell the bird in the hand. On the other hand, since you already have an allocation for a Turbo S LW in 2023, not sure it's relevant either way....
