Has anyone mastered setting up Homelink on a 992? I have tried and tried but as far as I gotten is for it to show up on PCM so I can press and hold on my garage door's name. I cannot get it to automatically open at the set GPS location.

Any help would be appreciated.

I spent endless hours getting mine set up, and am not sure I could do it again or tell you how. The critical trick that I remember is that when you go to sync the remote, I had to drive down the street and be out of range of the garage receiver. Once it controlled the doors, it all but remembered the location on its own -- I think the red box came up asking if I wanted it to remember and it did. When you say automatically open, do you mean you want the doors to open, or just want the dash app to pull up the screen? Not sure it can automatically open the doors without pushing the button? I also programmed my diamond button on the steering wheel to pull up the garage door function on the PCM....

I have mine set up so that as I approach my home the homelink activate screen pops up on pcm.

I may be wrong but I don’t think there is a way or intent for your garage door to automatically open as you approach - probably a safety feature.

You have to take a conscious action to open the door - which makes sense really.

I have found homelink operation to be very sensitive to the cars physical location, a few feet makes a difference.

Also like Tom I have the diamond button on the steering wheel set up to activate homelink. Homelink activation works best with a momentary tap NOT an extended hold.

Like Tom said, the homelink will only automatically popup on the PCM, it does not open the door.

In our Taycan, it has multiple wildcard buttons (diamonds), I'm using the one on the dash to activate the homelink, just a momentary tap activates the door, a long press will not work. Counter intuitive compared to other cars, that need a long press.

Mine was really easy, it took me literary 5 minutes to do. What are you having trouble with? Maybe I can make a video on how to do it?

Based on comments I had previously read, I was expecting to have trouble programming mine, but it also only took me five minutes to do it and I programmed the steering shell diamond key and it works great. I followed the instructions in the owner manual.

What year is your car? I'm wondering if it's gotten better for the '22+ models?

Porsche homelink setup seems really difficult compared to other makes…had a hard time setting mine up on my 991.2 also.

I was able to setup my homelink on a 991.2 within 5 minutes or so, very simple.

I'm thinking it may depend on your garage door opener as I had to call Homelink to get my 991.2 set up after following all of Porsche's instructions.
