Adding Nav, track precision app, etc.

Over on RL I'm following a couple of threads about coding our cars to add features not spec'd originally. Specifically I'm interested in adding Nav to my GTS 4.0, as I didn't order it. I use Waze and Google maps most of the time but if factory Nav can be added for very little expense then I'm interested. I'm no coder myself, can barely turn on my computer, but I've been aware for several years that hackers offer things that are locked up on our cars.
On 718 Forums there's a guy offering his services to remotely add Nav, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for a couple hundred bucks. Now a guy on RL has successfully added maps in the instrument cluster with a cable and PIWIS coding. Heretofore the cluster feature was not thought to be available, but he's done it and shared the procedure. I cannot understand it, not going to try, but therefore many of you guys who consider this stuff child's play. I envy you.
Now, we need to identify Porsche owners in different regions who have the skills and equipment (PIWIS or equal), who are willing to help us computer challenged individuals (for compensation, I'm not looking for freebies), with these coding modifications.
One can add Nav, Track Precision App, change Lane change blink from 3 to 5, default turning off Auto start, and who knows what else. The possibilities seem endless.
Can we do this? The gentleman that did this on RL lives in L.A. I'm in Alabama so it's inconvenient for ne to travel that far to get things done, but surely there are enthusiasts with similar skills in my geographic region who are willing to help. Anyone else interested in this?

Hi, gotta say I cannot say I like the OEM nav at all so just don’t use it, prefer Waze/ google maps via carplay and iPhone, so I think carplay is the way to go

However I would like to change blinker from 3 to 5, 3 is just too short so usually hit it twice

Totally agree on 5 blinks instead of 3, grasmere. My Alfa 4C has 5. At first, I thought i was leaving the signal on, but once i realized it was a 5 blinker, my other 3 blinker cars seemed inadequate for one touch lane changes.

I’ve always found it strange that Porsche limit android users. As well as the coding route, there are other units that enable wireless CarPlay and android auto. Things like this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/CarlinKit-equi ... 17SB2&th=1
Some people on the 718 forum have used them and speak highly of them.

I have a cplay2air wireless dongle for my iPhone, it too works well. I had read somewhere that the 3 blink feature could be changed to 5 and asked my dealer about doing it. They said it couldn't be done.
Lots of things car be added or modified with some software and proper knowledge. I don't have the knowledge but am willing to pay someone to do the coding. Getting factory nav and having it work in the cluster are things I'd like to have, even though I use Waze and Google maps most of the time. The 5 blink turn signal is also desirable, if I could locate someone in the AL-TN- GA
area who has PIWIS and coding skills.

A guy on RL is helping me, I've run the communications cable from the PCM to the instrument cluster so the maps will show on the right bin, and once I get the software downloaded on a couple of SD cards we'll upload it into the PCM and I'll have factory NAV. Amazing.

Would absolutely love it if you provided detail here on how to do it. I can help write it up as a downloadable DIY if you think you get it down!

I'll do that once it's finished. I was hoping to do the software today but my laptop crapped out so I'm waiting on the fix-it guy.

Thanks very much, I need to get back down to LA sometime soon. Lower Alabama to you non-Alabamians.
