Re: Ethanol Free Gas
... The cost per mile then becomes equal or better than using E10.
I agree. That's the bottom line.
I recently filled up the tank on my 944 with E85 at $3.19 per gallon. My other car takes 91 octane which is currently at $6.09 per gallon. My 944 gets 20mpg on E85, my other car gets 30mpg on 91 ...

Re: Couple of body/seal/paint questions
My car benefits from the 'continuously regenerating underbody rustproof coating' "feature". also known as an oil leak.danmartinic wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2026 7:48 am
The consistent presence of various oil leaks over the years is probably the car's best defense![]()

Re: Oil Pump Gear
My technique for installing seals is to smear a thin layer of black RTV on the outside of the seal to help it slide in smoothly, reduce the chance of damage during install, and help seal any burrs/nicks/deformation in the housing. The inner lip of the seal should be installed with a light coating of ...

Re: High Torque Starter Motor?
I installed the High Torque Starter approx 6 years ago. It made a slight improvement, but the battery I had at that time was going bad. I also replaced the wire harness between the battery and starter. Then around 3 years ago I got a nice, modern Noco Lithium NLP30 battery and that made a nice ...

So 27 * 5 = 135 and 135/500 = 0.27ms.
And 93 * 5 = 465, so 465/500 = 0.93ms.
Interesting that these are pretty much perfect matches for the actual map values. That kind of looks like they deliberately chose values to make the map easily readable. Are these plausible numbers for dead time ...

Re: Looking for DME BIN files
Here's some good info on the LR M-Tune. https://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Parts/M-TUNE.html
Basically, the chip holds 14 different and complete ROM images, the dip switches select which section of the chip to use.
I'd recommend that you start with the tune that matches your mods, then use ...

Re: Looking for DME BIN files
Incredible thread. You guys are doing the lord's work!
I actually just picked up an 86 951 (nearly 20 years since my last 86 951) and am working on sorting it out. It has an LR M-Tune setup but it does not run well, which led me down a quick but steep decent into DME/tuning developments over the ...

Re: Aftermarket Downpipe Rubbing
I also bent the flat sheetmetal piece on the castor block mount to make room for a larger downpipe. I read about this mod a long time ago. It's common. I don't have a bracket on the downpipe and haven't had any problems. But I did replace all turbo mounting hardware with new 12.9 grade bolts when I ...

Once you understand how it works you can change it.
What do you make of these header numbers? I rescaled the RPM and Load axis many years ago when I was tuning my hybrid stroker. The goal was to make it more linear and intuitive.
