Excited to share that my Boxster Spyder was featured in the April issue with the incredible Michael Alan Ross behind the lens. Article reinforces what I already knew, this generation of Spyder is extra special.

Re: Ugh, Broken Cam Cover Bolt
Agreed, the finish on the exposed interior of the cam cover appears to be holding on. The seals have not been removed in the photo. Does this indicate a plan to re-install the cover without further removing / disturbing anything?
The seals for the spark plugs and the two plastic plugs (remnants ...

Re: Ugh, Broken Cam Cover Bolt
Update
I was able to remove the cam cover without issue and my buddy Erik, who had had a similar situation with his 928, was able to gently remove the broken end with a pick and small hammer. I have to say I am totally impressed by how well everything came apart and how good everything ...

Re: Ugh, Broken Cam Cover Bolt
Thanks @dr bob and @barnwerks for the incredibly helpful and quick responses! This is just the information I was looking for and totally curious what the underside of the cover looks like. I'll post a picture when I get it off.

Ugh, Broken Cam Cover Bolt
So.... I decided to tighten the 5mm cam cover bolts on my '89 S2 and one of the center ones felt way looser than it should've and sure enough it was sheared off at the base of threads. I think it was time to change the cover gasket anyway. Any other "while your in there" things I should look at?

Re: Which hub do I need to install CS wheel in my 968
Motosport Did you get this figured out? I just completed a similar project on my 89 944 S2 including adding a resistor to fool the airbag system. Happy to share my notes if helpful.
As the title says, I have bought a secondhand clubsport steering wheel to go in my 968, replacing the oem airbag ...

Re: Cheap and Cool Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Option
After using it for several weeks I am still pretty bullish about it.sourcreamfries wrote: Tue Oct 22, 2024 11:25 pm Interesting find! I was looking at the blaupunkt too but this seems like a decent alternative. Maybe not as period-correct but the features seem worth it?

Re: Cheap and Cool Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Option
@miggytosh
Thanks for the review. Can the purple buttons be changed to amber/orange? And can the unit be set a little deeper into the console? It’ll look cleaner that way and perhaps @Tom can 3D print a face plate cover for it to keep it from prying 👀 eyes!
Apologies for the slow response ...

Cheap and Cool Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto Option
Although I really loved the Blaupunkt Memphis Stereo in my 89 S2, I also really enjoy the Porsche Roads app, Rallista and other niceties that come with hand free Wireless CarPlay. After googling single DIN CarPlay, I decided to take a chance on a $140 Power Acoustiks unit that is exclusive to ...

Re: Those spots on old instrument clusters....
Happy for this thread as my S2 is suffering from this issue and it’s one of my spring to-dos.
