At this point, I would say it could be useful for any car - the seals on the shaft of my car came out in about 200 pieces, they were dried and just disintegrated as I was pulling it apart.
You can see the pieces in the picture, with a 'new' o-ring for reference....

Re: air conditioning in 2024
The 944 has plenty of condenser area, so you're generally fine with the 'older' style - the extra efficiency with parrallel flow is nice, but not really a necessity. And the 85.5 and up cars have plenty of evaporator and good ducting/blowers, so they take to R134a really nicely - I can freeze you ...

Re: Should I replace head gasket "while I'm in there"?
This was one of my regrets when I did my initial 'top end' resto, I went down to the head and I was sitting there flip flopping about yanking the head off, but I decided not to as I was already spending crazy but I regret that I didn't do it.

Re: Replacing all hose clamps - how to find sizes?
Yes, I have a PET. (And thanks for the link!)
But for example, the hose clamps on this page (# 48, 49, 51, 52) are all listed as "hose clamp", or "clamp" in the PET with no sizes.
I have tried to cross-reference the part number online and found some links with sizes, but was hoping for a faster ...

Re: Replacing all hose clamps - how to find sizes?
I also found this fastener company - https://www.newcoproducts.com - but I have never ordered from them, so no idea if they are good/bad/etc - but they have a few products Bel doesn't have and just another source in general.
But they also have Norma style zinc plated clamps - https://www ...

Re: Replacing all hose clamps - how to find sizes?
The Porsche PET for the car has a list of every (replaceable) part in the car. So every bolt size, washer size, nut size, clamp size, etc. Includes the original part number, so if you ever have a hard-to-find part you can look it up as well - quite a lot of the small parts are still available from ...

Re: Those spots on old instrument clusters....
I always heard the white spots in the cluster were almost a type of mold. I never gave it much thought, but it would track, I see it more often on cars that were stored outdoors at some point of their lives - the longer the more spots, etc.

Re: air conditioning in 2024
I did the Keuhl kit, my condenser was still workable, although it has some bent fin road wear. So I replaced the compressor (the one on the car was broken), and I pulled every hose to replace every o-ring I could easily get to, blew out/cleaned the system as best as I could - replaced the dryer ...

Re: Adventures in Rear Window Tinting
Very well said! It sounds like you tint windows professionally. Thank you for the advice about clear tinting the front window for UV protection.
The tint pros out there make it look easy because they are so good at it. They've put in the time and the practice, and they definitely earn their fees ...

For sure!
Given the engine harness in my car is 35 years old and hacked up with a SMT6 & various Lindsey sub harnesses...
I just finished installing a Kroon engine harness. Somewhat of a nerve-racking job, for the most part a straight forward install and plug & play. I can say the car has never ...
