In light of all the 718 people who have signed up for license plate mounts, I thought I'd separate out a board just for you!
Welcome aboard all!
Hi Tom, thanks for doing this! I think you should move over most of the threads that are in the Boxster/Cayman board today, because almost all of the threads are related to the 718 and not the earlier cars. Actually, now that I look at it - they are ALL 718-specific threads there!

What's happening?Dichael wrote: Sat Sep 04, 2021 8:36 am Thanks Tom. Although some of us soon to be owners look like we’ll be waiting awhile longer![]()
Chip shortages, among other things. Porsche’s been delivering cars without powered steering wheel settings (eg only manual till more chips come in for modules), some folks only getting only one key fob… many seeing expected deliveries pushed ~ one month. Others being told that Porsche’s delaying 911, GT3, and spyder prod to December.
I won’t know the situation with my own delivery till I return stateside this Sunday.

I was at Porsche of Fremont on Friday due to an unfortunate run-in with a curb
and asked my sales guy how hard it would be to get a 718 Spyder. He said just to forget about it for a while -- no way -- then pointed out that they had no new cars and couldn't even place an order. If you are waiting on a car, cling to your allocation at all costs.... No wonder normal-spec used cars are selling over MSRP.
Agreed. I believe it’s due to the Chip shortage, per my SA. Even normal-spec 911, Boxsters, Caymans are hard to come by. Don’t even think about trying to order a GT car, for that matter. At my dealership, they don’t even have an allocation for a Spyder or GT4 yet, and people are putting down a deposit to be the first few in lineTom wrote: Sun Sep 12, 2021 1:04 pm I was at Porsche of Fremont on Friday due to an unfortunate run-in with a curband asked my sales guy how hard it would be to get a 718 Spyder. Indeed, very much appreciate the brain power putting your thoughts towards a rear mount solution. Don’t drill my baby please!!
Well…not my baby yet. I’m part of the waiters club and not sure when I will eventually get my new p-car. But when I do, I shall want to put my rear plate on with your solution!
Been lurking on the 718forum for a year or more, and slowly getting more and more excited about my impending ownership. In the meantime, happy to find another new place to share thoughts with folks.
Thanks!
Luke

Tom I was just referred to this forum from Jet Fuel Only from YouTube. I saw your new slick license plate mounts. Yes that is something I didn’t know I needed but please let me know what I need to do to get a set. As you said above I am clinging to my GT4 allocation and slowly watching my projected delivery date move further into the future. I recently went from 12-29-2021 to 1-28-2022. I guess as long as I get it before spring I will be happy.
