Apparently they reconfigured and renamed the program in 2017. From Porsche's FAQ page on the PPS & CCT programs:

What happened to the old COA?
The former COA program was updated in 2017 and renamed the Porsche Production Specification (PPS) in 2019.

Great, thank you! I am going to get this for sure.

Might get a plexi plaque made and put my emblem on it, and put it inside the picture frame with the PPS ha.

@71eh

By the way, back to your original post starting this thread, where did you get the metal crest and are they all one size?

viewtopic.php?t=2467#p26211

@Al B asked about that earlier in the thread and I'm also curious. I'm wondering if that's the same crest that Fasteddie99 used in the great-looking and superbly framed ensemble that he has.

Hey. I found this little gem of a store that sells them. I was blown away by the quality and size. And, only $25 bucks lol.

The one I got was the biggest one. They also have a copper/rose gold version.

Some smaller ones as well.

I would just be a bit more exact in quoting the person who said this. It was Ferdinand Anton Ernst Porsche or Ferdinand 'Ferry' Porsche. I believe he said it about the 356. His son Ferdinand Alexander Porsche or Ferdinand 'Butzi' Porsche designed the 911. And his father was Ferdinand Porsche, who designed/built the Beetle ;)

I think using just "Ferdinand" gets the message across pretty well. While not technically as thorough as using his full name or "Ferry" would be, the original Ferdinand is the one generally thought of historically when used in the Porsche automotive world.

And he did this too:

16 cylinders, 270 mph, in 1938: The Auto Union V-16 was an audacious engineering feat.

It's a great article. A self-taught brilliant engineer.

An awesome quote in the first para of the article:

"Nature’s four hooves eventually gave way to man’s own engines as the power source, and the latter became the canvas for mechanical geniuses such as Ferdinand Porsche. Well before putting his name on his own automobiles, Porsche was prone to the kind of audacious engineering that produced feats worth remembering and celebrating today, such as the Auto Union V-16."

To each their own. It's not my plaque. I was just saying "I would be a bit more exact". I also would translate the quote better. He never said sports car; just 'car'. Anyway...moving on.

Hmmm, interesting site. No ownership or location info, and one has to wonder if they are licensed to sell all the various brands (of all kinds) they sell? :silent:

You have a great point and I stand corrected. The quote came from Ferry so the proposed plaque from the OP ideally should read Ferry rather than Ferdinand because people such as myself refer to the original Porsche as Ferdinand and his son as Ferry.

As for the quote, I guess no one knows what was actually said (I certainly don't anyway), but the only quotes that are out there all say the same thing "...sportscar..." (one word). That includes quotes from Porsche itself (the company).

From Porsche.com:

F is for… Ferdinand

"Ferdinand Porsche, the Austrian-German founder of the company that continues to bear his name today, had a passion for engineering from a young age. His engineering genius led to the design of such landmark vehicles as the Lohner-Porsche, considered the first-ever hybrid car at the start of the 20th century, and later the Volkswagen Beetle. In 1931 Ferdinand founded Porsche AG in Stuttgart, Germany. Of course, there was another Ferdinand who played a crucial role in shaping the company’s identity and success – Ferdinand Porsche’s son, Ferry. Ferry was the man who uttered that famous line, “I couldn’t find the sportscar of my dreams, so I built it myself.” Ferry was the driving force behind many innovative designs during his life, from the Porsche 356 to the Porsche 911. While his father laid the foundations, it was Ferry Porsche who built upon them from 1948 to turn Porsche into the globally recognised brand that it is today."
