Hi All,

Wanted to write some experiences with my car. I installed the 3rd radiator retrofit on my '22 Carrera 4 GTS. I will be writing a full DIY on this and @Tom will be helping me to get it added on here for anyone that would like to attempt this mod on the 992.

Things that I've learned.

1-if you are adding something to the cooling system (radiator in my case), do not try to just bleed the system and fill. It will create an air pocket no matter how hard you try to get the system vacuumed with a bleeding cooling tool. Always drain the system, including the engine. I will get a write-up on that too. and then get a vacuum on the system and fill the whole system.

2-if you are taking either the front or the rear bumper off, please do disconnect the negative cable of the battery. You are disconnecting a lot of plugs. And some of the plugs could be of cameras, either rear or front. If you do and the battery is connected, you will run with a problem of needing the cameras recalibrated. Also, when you start your car after installing and plugging any disconnected harness plugs and connecting the battery back on, you might get the emergency brake light on the dashboard will be flashing. To get rid of that, you will need to drive your car. The position of the rear brake will be unknown to the system and that is what the error is and why the light will be flashing. Once you drive it, the caliper will reposition itself and you should not have a problem. No need for a dealership visit on this.

Anyways, I will be doing a write up on the radiator installation with pictures.

Thank you.

Where are you installing this "third" radiator because my 991.1 Carrera 4 GTS comes with three radiators as installed from the factory? Other models from that series did not have the center radiator and some owners were installing one.

Did they drop a radiator in the 992 GTS models? :?:

I'm not familiar with the 991.1 having a center radiator. But on the 992.1 the only models that have the center radiator were the Turbo, Turbo S and both the GT3 and GT3 RS. The only way that the other models would have a center radiator is if it was sold on the hot climate country or state. I installed the 3rd radiator on the center of the front bumper. It is actually an OEM mod sold by the Porsche dealership.

Did you have overheating issues? Or simply looking for extra insurance against it?

My understanding is there is an oil to water heat exchanger in the engine area, and the oil is also cooled by the water system. So adding the third radiator should also help keep oil temps in check.

Look forward to your DIY.

My 991.1 GTS has it and it was not a dealer and certainly not a customer installed option as I have all the paperwork from the delivery date. I would know...I have to clean the bugs out of it.
