I've nursed the pump through a few 'slight seepage ***' periods. After several completely-clean and monitor episodes, I decided the 'slight seepage' was from the joint where the reservoir fits around the pump. I seem to have an earlier version of the pump than what's in the pictures here, with the reservoir just sliding over the bottom of the pump and indexing in a groove. I added some Hylomar to the groove after cleaning it, with a large nylon cable tie as a clamp to add just a little squeeze.

On mine anyway, that 'connection' appeared to be a little loose on purpose to allow air in and out, so sealing it better meant I needed to add a vent to atmosphere. At the back now, there's a rubber vent fitting that looks suspiciously like a small tire valve with the core removed. There's a short coiled section of tubing on it for the duty, acting as a fluid separator and drain-back. Without that vent, any splash from returning fluid conspires with the air escaping from the reservoir to leave a film wherever the air can escape as you lower the lift.

Small tire valve comes from a parts store if there isn't one in your collection of things. I drilled hole as high as possible in the plastic reservoir housing. I made a wood support to let me lever-pull the valve through the plastic with a tire valve tool. The rubber valve seals in the hole nicely.

There are fancier metal-stem tire valves with seals and nuts you could use instead, but I had the rubber valve handy along with the tool to install it. Choose the metal-stem carefully, and you can fish it out through the new hole via the filler opening using the rubber tubing. Good if you don't really need to reseal the top of the reservoir to the pump.

The biggest 'work' was removing the reservoir without damaging the little molded-in lip that fits the groove in the pump housing.



*** 'Seepage' is a term adopted by owners of early and maybe some not-so-early British cars and motorcycles. Seepage is something you monitor and often feed to maintain. Contrast with 'leakage', which of course is something you'd need to actually fix. The difference is subtle but nonetheless important. :shh:

I just installed racedeck flooring over the weekend what a huge change from the stained concrete. Very happy with the results. It’s still a working garage and is far from pretty.

Nice! It looks great to me! I love a busy, working garage, especially one that utilizes all the space in a coherent manner as yours does. They are fun and satisfying places to be. :thumbup:

I am at the point where I need to pick the color of my garage rehab. i am tending toward medium blue with grey undertones. It will have white/off white trim to match my home. Color are hard.....

What I learned from doing 2 in a 6 year span was dark colors on the inside make the space too dark and hard to light. That was why we went with a white as the base color this time around.

Looks awesome! I love racedeck. There is no faster way to completely transform a garage! And yours is color-coded to match your cars. :thumbup: Brilliant move putting the lift on a slight angle like that. I'm been mulling whether to add up-lights to my lift too -- do you think the lights were worthwhile?

Thanks for the advice. So far the inside is all white, can always add a stripe or accent color as I get settled. I need to choose an primary outside color for my detached garage. the house is red brick so i can't simply extend the house color to the garage.
I am learning that if it is a flower pot a really bright color works. But the bigger the project the less bright/in your face you want the color.

Thanks Tom, it made a huge difference in my garage going from the heavily stained concrete to this is like have a brand new space.

As far as the lights, 100% worth it. It made a huge difference, I bought some string led lights on Amazon with some magnet tape so I could move them around and it’s a true game changer. I barely need a work light.

I spotted the Saleen S7 poster right away haha. One of my favorite cars growing up.
