"Design" is a very touchy subject and everyone has their own opinion of what looks good and what doesn't. Believe it or not, some people actually think the Bangle BMW's look good........even the 6 series. Yikes!
I agree that the 944 tail lights were just carried over from the 70's - I'm sure to keep the costs down.
only944.com has a few affordable color options for new lenses, but they are still that 70's/80's "grid" pattern. I'm surprised that given how easy it would be to make, no one has created a more updated style that was plug and play.
But with the ever increasing emergence of the "Rad Era" car enthusiast, more and more would want those grid lights left alone to highlight all the feathered hair, aquanet and Motley Crue.

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode where the Itchy and Scratchy creator is asking a panel of kids what they would liked changed on the show to get them to watch again.

That Singer 911 looks like a complete dogs dinner though, and I assume it's only necessary to cover the over sized wheels. Do that to your $100k project 944 and see how many you sell. I reckon you're also cutting corners using an 8v head.
I agree and like the light bar across the back. It is a nod to the current 911's. Having the bumper wrap around to the wheel wells would a good way to help with the stone damage to the bottom of the rear fender. We tossed around wider fenders but it doesn’t fit the theme / demographic we are interested in.
There are many tastes out there, you obviously have yours and I am not the kind of guy to object to your tastes. I have my own tastes and I don’t feel the need to belittle what others find appealing. To each his own.
On the 8v head thing. No, not cutting corners. I have built quite a few 16v turbos and it’s a nice engineering project that can make a lot of high rpm HP. But the 8v is actually superior in low to mid range torque. The kind of thing you want in a street car. The goal of our project is to make a powerful and refined street car – not a max hp boy racer car. I have made quite a few of those and they are fun – but I wouldn’t want to take a week long cross country vacation in one!
Sarcastic question: if you are doing a faithful replication of a 944 do you half fill the tail lights with water before or after paint?

Thought about e throttle but it’s a big add in complexity and price. Are you planning anything special on the rear hatch creaking noise like some aerospace sourced adhesive or just a thorough current technology re-seal ? There always seems to be several how-to's floating on line regarding re-seal but the original design/materials appear to be a constant source of issues.
