Still waiting for delivery of my own 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 (MT), so I Turo'd a 718 Boxster T (PDK) and flogged it along a 2-day NorCal road trip over Presidents Day weekend:

Day 1: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Q7e9YLSbSK7n9Mne7
Highlights:
29 between Calistoga and Middletown
175 between Finley and Hopland
253 between Ukiah and Boonville
Comptche Ukiah Rd to Orr Springs Rd (between Highway 1 and US-101)

Day 2: https://maps.app.goo.gl/BKQpgS5yVoH4ZZvn6
Highlights:
20 between Willits and Fort Bragg
Skaggs Springs Road (aka Skaggs Springs Raceway; between Highway 1 and US-101)

The Boxster T was plenty spicy on the backroads given some damp road conditions. Very fun weekend!

I'll do better about snapping some pictures and videos when I can fuss around with action camera mounts on my own vehicle soon. :D

I would never consider doing TURO with my Porsche, you found a very brave soul! The GTS 4.0 is a great machine and I have really enjoyed mine. The wait is worth it and is your little Croc on a ship yet?

 No kidding! But the Turo host was cool and told me to give his car the beans and enjoy it. It did not disappoint. ...but I won't be putting mine up for rental either!

My soon-to-be-mine Cayman has been parked at Port Emden for the past 2 days. Should ship out by March 10 if TYD holds true.

Do follow it along as it is a fun way to record its progress across the ocean to port. It is not always correct but you can access Marine Traffic and get a better idea of where your Container ship is ---- you can get your Ship's name from your Porsche Rep.

However, based on your very helpful advice ( :D  ) and some sleuthing by Nick, he too determined that the part numbers for the inner and outer boots were indeed exactly the same. Yes! He's figured out how to best go about replacing the "non-replaceable" outers. We're in business. Thanks Jeremy!!

Meanwhile, still waiting on the OAP situation to be resolved as well as procuring the Porsche Motorsports rear axle cooling ducts.
we are not the only ones with problem CV boots, heat coated OAPs not providing sufficient protection and alligator undercoating.

@J-Dub

I have not had a chance to watch the Pobst video but will soon.

Meanwhile, I went to the dealership today and unpacked the Soul OAPs that have Soul's new 3-D printed metal heat shields that they are now applying to their pipes using a special process of some kind. (That application procedure is the reason that every bit of the existing Jet-Hot coating needs to be removed, a process that requires a unique type of blast media as I understand it.)

Anyway, the new heat shielding looks absolutely awesome. It's so much more robust than Jet-Hot's thin ceramic coating. I've had Jet-Hot coated headers in the past (Corvettes) and it's a good process for some uses such as in a more open front engine bay, but I don't believe it's sufficient for the intense trapped heat of OAPs and similar exhaust pieces in tightly confined spaces.

Looking at this new shielding vs Jet-Hot's ceramic coating leads me to believe that it will be much more effective. I'm thinking maybe several times over. It has density and thickness; it also looks very good and seems extremely durable.

Also arriving in the past couple of days were the rear axle cooling ducts, sourced by Nick directly from Porsche Motorsports rather than the other source that was discussed previously.

I think the combination of these two upgrades will largely (or completely?) solve the excessive heat experienced on track.

PS: ignore the part numbers on the box where I placed the rear axle cooling ducts. No idea what's in that box - it was just a table for me to take the pic. The Porsche Motorsports part numbers are on the ducts themselves however. :D

Didn't J-Dee mention somewhere that these fit the GT4 but not the GTS 4.0?

Yes.

However, I think Jeremy was looking into seeing if they could somehow be reconfigured to make them fit 4.0 GTS cars, but I don't know how that turned out.

If they do work for GTS, get them from Porsche Motorsports rather than the secondary reseller mentioned a few months ago. A lot less $$.
