Thanks! It's all good - part of life. You enjoy what you can while can and have appreciation for what was. (Pretty unscientific and crude philosophy - Plato I'm not - but it makes sense to me which is what counts!Tom wrote: Sun Jun 22, 2025 9:08 pmAh Tim, I'm so sorry.blueline wrote: Sun Jun 22, 2025 7:48 pm RIP to my sweet Trina. Tim, so sorry you lost Trina, it’s the hardest part of the “Pet Parent” job.blueline wrote: Sun Jun 22, 2025 7:48 pm RIP to my sweet Trina. She'll be forever missed but she had a good life.

Tom,
My dog does the same thing to me. Took over my nice chair. He is 12 now so I just let him have it. It is just the dog's way of taking charge of the house. Great photo, thanks very much.

She's been about as perfect a dog as one could want, pretty awesome for a barely over 1-yr-old largely heeler rescue found wandering in a rural area near a river. She is smart, kind and well-behaved which is even more amazing for a dog who likes to run, play and needs lots of exercise (which she gets). She needed a few minor mannerism improvements but that has gone well, especially for a dog who we spoil. Lol. We hit the jackpot with her Tom.aboyandhisdog wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 4:39 pm Tim, it looks as though Josie has settled in very nicely. As a rescue, did she have any issues that you had to overcome? I got Joey at the same time and he had some things we had to work out, but is a fantastic "roommate"! He is the perfect little buddy!
Glad your Joey figured it all out and settled in to his new loving home. We are all fortunate - humans and the canines alike!

Manners indeed! That is where I fall down with Joey. I got my first dog (as an adult) in 1983 - a Rottie and the most perfect dog. And I trained her to be the most exemplary, well mannered dog ever. Since Brikka, I have had 10 dogs and I have to admit I pay less attention to training and manners now than I did back then. I find I am just happy if they are happy, and I don't want to be as rigid as I was back then. I still insist on all of the safety skills and the basic commands (stay, come, leave it, etc.) , but as long as they are happy, I'm happy, and I don't take it too much further than that!

That's the way it is here too. We want basic good behavior but let them be themselves. I've found over the years that that approach makes for well-adjusted dogs who also have (mostly) good manners when others are around. (Their manners are close to impeccable when with just us!aboyandhisdog wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 8:51 pm Manners indeed! That is where I fall down with Joey.
