Hi, I'm Ian. Based in Perth, WA. Always been interested in cars and fast cars in particular. My current stable is in my signature block. I have always wanted a 928 and picked up my first ever Porsche in December 2021 and the second last month (it should arrive from Brisbane to Perth on 09 April). Hopefully the photos display correctly. My 2017 M3 goes back tomorrow and I pick up my new M4 (so I'll have something to do until the 928 arrives in a week). Looking forward to contributing to the Forum and hopefully get to meet some of you in the future.

Hi Everyone-

Like others, I'm here from RL. Not a refugee (yet?) but happy to interact with as many P Car folks as possible.

Some background on me:

Where I am: Near Portland OR, USA
What I do: Still in the corporate grind, in semiconductor consumable development
What I drive:
- 2006 E60 M5, Interlagos Blue, SMGIII (daily)
- 1990 928 S4, Silver, AT
- 1990 928 GT, Red, MT
- 1991 944 S2, White, MT
- 1993 968, Black, MT
- 2002 911 C2, Speed Yellow, MT

The "what I drive" is a little disingenous as I have gone from having 2 project cars to having mostly project cars. Just prior to moving to OR I was hit on the way to work by a dump truck who didn't see me when changing lanes, so the 911 drives, but is in need of some serious work. The S4 is a (reasonably) reliable driver, with mostly just standard updating that's required. The GT was bought knowing it needs reassembly and body work, paint mostly. The S2 just had either a valve bend or a valve spring break, so that now needs a head job. The 968 was bought as a total project car; it's really rough, but salvageable. Ugh, I'm getting anxiety from listing everything I have to do.

Anyway, I love these cars and have my work cut out for me.

Here's my embarrassing Porsche story:

I bought the 911 from a friend in Texas that decided to make a huge mistake and sell the car. However, I'd wanted a 928 for forever and so managed to find my way to Bring a Trailer to peruse the market. At one point, I decided that I needed to better understand the mechanics of how the site worked so I created an account and decided to get the money side of things set up by bidding on a car, with the expectation that I would lose. That clever strategy didn't quite work out and I ended up the winner on the auction of the '91 944 S2. It's been downhill since then...

Cheers

Ah, I looked at that and said to myself I'd never heard of Perth, WA (Washington State, USA) :) Further reading confirmed WA is Western Australia. Dang, thought I'd met someone new in my state.

Me too, especially with the Washington-looking boat harbor picture. But between Perth, Brisbane and RHD cars, I googled Perth, WA. Beautiful cars in a beautiful setting though -- welcome aboard!

Welcome aboard both @English_Bob and @Zirconocene ! Great to see more 928/transaxle Porsche owners joining up and saying hi! Zirconecene, not even sure where to start on your project list! Pictures please. :) @Pefa has a thread showing progress on his full body 928 repaint, so that might give you inspiration to paint yours! And I wouldn't worry about the mistaken 944 purchase -- at the current value-trajectory, 944's seem to be doubling in value every 8 days. ;)

WOW! Quite the list. EIther you are single or have an extremely understanding significant other and no kids. I had four cars once, all needing 'a little work' when I finally realized I'd never get them to where I wanted them, and didn't really have the space for them.
Welcome home!
