Welcome to the world of Transaxle Porsches!
You will obviously see a driving difference in 944 Turbo's and your other vehicles, but variety is what makes life interesting.
The transaxle grouping has a lot of information on working with turbos, and both mechanical and electronic aspects have come a long way since the 951 first came out, should you want to go that route.

Hi all, just joined and thought I'd introduce myself. I live just outside of Pittsburgh, and like many of you I imagine, I had that poster of a black 911 turbo in a four wheel drop when I was a teenager back in the 80's. That original poster is still hanging in my garage!

Fast forward a few years and was able to get into a 2007 Boxster S that I had for a couple years before I was able to get into that poster dream car, a black 997 911 turbo, six speed.

A couple years ago a decided to move on from my M3 track car and got into a 981 GT4. Realized that I need to get back into a convertible and loved my old Boxster so sold the 911 turbo and bought a 718 2022 Boxster GTS 4.0. Six speed, of course.

So two mid engined Porsches now occupy a side of my garage, the GT4 exclusively a track weapon and the GTS Boxster a weekend and sunny day car.

Daily driver for me is a 2018 AMG e63s wagon, and wife dailies a 2024 Audi Sportback. Also have a GMC Canyon Denali to tow the GT4 and a GTI for my 16 year old son to drive, six speed of course!

Nice! The mid-engined P-cars are awesome and are especially well-suited for track duty - balanced and fun to drive. I was disappointed regarding the sudden news announcing the year-end closure of Pitt-Race - I'm guessing that was a great nearby track for you. Although I never made it there, it looked like it would have been a fun lap and and nice facility to boot. It seems like I also recall the owners spending a considerable sum of money in the last 5 or so years doing upgrades. Sad.

That closure took all of us by surprise! And yes, you’re right that the owners continued to invest up to the end. It was a gorgeous track. A real shame to lose it.
I tracked my M3 for years, but this GT4 is amazing. So intuitive, and just as fast as the M3 but with much less spare parts, modifications, and care and feeding.

I love my 718 GT4. Its life has been that of a track car from the day it was new, although I do put the OEM wheels with all-weather tires on it at track season's end so that I can street drive it whenever. The GT4 is my favorite P-car - just a joy in every respect. That's saying a lot.

Welcome Slowdown and always good to have another RennRatte on the Carpokes site. I have known Jim and Kathy Stout for 25 years and I was pretty surprised to see that they sold PittRace, but I imagine there is a point where it either needed to be sold as Jim is in his 80s, but sad it did not go to someone who wanted to run the stellar road course site.

You will enjoy it here and I find the Cayman GTS a riot on the track, though I went with a PDK since I do Time Trials -- super hard decision though!

Agree on the GTS! I haven’t and won’t track my Boxster GTS because convertible and I have the GT4 for that but the GTs does seem to be the sweet spot. I put more miles in my GTS just this one summer than I did in my 911 turbo the last three years!
As for PittRace, rumor is it’ll be a data center and with all the utilities already in place for the race track I imagine a lot of the work getting power and water and sewage etc that far off the main road was appealing to whoever is developing the data center.
