Inexpensive 911 tire options

Currently looking around for a new set of tires for our 2014 911 that won't break our bank. Car only used for adult driving to grocery store, Sunday rides for ice cream, and such. At 82 years old we have done all the high-speed curves we are going to do.

A trusted dealer has suggested a Falken Azenis FK 460 A/S, an all-season tire designed for sport cars.

Can get all four, installed and balanced for $1,233.49 plus tax, and an alignment for $250 if needed.

Anyone here have any experience or knowledge of these tires?

I have no personal experience with Falken tires but they are loved by many track enthusiasts (track days, endurance race series, autoX, etc). That speaks well of them, at least at one level. Other anecdotal comments I've uncounted have all been positive too.

Beyond that, the reviews at several sites for the Falken Azenis are uniformly positive. As an ultra high performance all-season tire, there will be some compromises, snow and ice in particular, but that's to be expected - there isn't one tire that can be in the top tiers for all types of tested conditions. The Azenis tires are excellent in the dry and the wet and that's what counts the most in my book. And you can drive on them in extreme cold with a reasonable expectation that they'll maintain their grip. Another plus I read was that they are noted for being quiet.

To have a true all-season tire from a highly reputable tire manufacturer that will fit late model 911s at what appears to be a very good price is a win-win in my book, especially considering your intended driving style and intended use.

Hopefully, someone on Carpokes with Azenis experience will chime in with actual opinions but if not, I'd say go for it and enjoy!

One other thought is that I'd definitely opt for an alignment if it were me. Hopefully the shop knows how to properly align Porsche 911s.

The Falkens are a good choice for your needs. Another choice to consider (assuming they offer in your sizes) would be Toyo Proxes Sport A/S+. I'm running those currently on my 718 Cayman and our daily driver Audi. Very good all-around, quiet and not harsh riding.

I don't where they fall in the price range but I switched to all-season Continental DSW 06 on my daily-driven '18 Targa and have been pleased with their on-road performance. They're not as grippy when pushed hard as the Pirelli P-Zero tires I had on there before, but handle much better in the wet and cold.

I've also had excellent results with Continental tires for previous cars, including a former Cayenne. Continental is a superb, very high quality German tire maker. Their bicycle tires are the standard for many hard core cyclists,

Not sure where they would compare with the Falkens price-wise but for daily driving one can never go wrong with Conti's high-end tires - summer, winter or all-season.

I had Falkens on another one point (not that particular tire model, but Falkens nonetheless). I'm not a tire aficionado like some, so consider the source, but for me I thought they were great. They handled nicely, were reasonably quiet, and lasted way longer than super high performance tires. I'm guessing these would be perfect for what you're looking for...
