Viable Option for TPS Replacement

MoeMonney, thanks for the post. I checked it out and the cross reference to a Bosch part on their site and by what I can see, it does not work on the 951.

It says 'out of stock' when you try to put it in your cart, then redirects you to the $918 factory version...

Yeah, I kinda figured that may be the case. Glad I bought a sprare Bosch in 2022 for $250 ish.

Well, I had to bite the bullet and buy the TPS from Porsche. I sent my broken part to Tom who confirmed I had a really bad part, both the idle microswitch and the pot tracks were dead. At least he has an old broken one on hand to use once he begins his engineering magic to figure out how to bring them back to life, no pressure Tom! Just kidding, you have much on your plate and I appreciate all you do for the CARPOKES community. It would be nice if Bosch would build a few more and get them out to other independent supply sources but until then, I guess it will be pay the P-tax.

Yes, it will be interesting to see if they bring these back. They seem to be following the same pattern as the lifters, where the mfg stops making them, and Porsche keeps raising the price on its remaining inventory to ensure they can keep them in stock and only sell them to those who REALLY want one...

As for making a new one, the electronics is super simple -- basically just a volume knob and an on/off which. Unfortunately, the volume knob part was a custom carbon trace board and the switch is no longer available (if it ever was). So, it's all about finding parts to fit the space and dealing with the connector. I already have a few parts on order to see what I might be able to adapt to your original case, though suspect in the long run I'll need to make a modified enclosure. Time will tell... Thanks again for sacrificing your TPS for the cause, but as you say, it was about as dead as it gets...

I assume it's for there EMS set up. It says it uses a hall sensor, which is a big reliability upgrade over the carbon traces in the original, but hall sensors require more current than I 'think' is available on the factory TPS connector wires. I looked into using a hall sensor for a plug n play replacement, but got tripped on on that point and wanted it to work with the factory harness (and they are 5x the cost of a standard potentiometer). The Clewett one also doesn't fit the 944 throttle body shaft or the factory connector, so that all points to it being just for their system. On the other hand, there is nothing listed under 944 EMS systems, so I dunno. All I know for sure is that it's not a direct replacement on a 944...

There's an option for an adapter:

"This kit only works for 944 and 944 Turbo with modification to the drive adapter for the TPS shaft. Charge is $20 for modification"
