Awesome thanks for this, tackling the job this spring on my newly acquired 1985 944!

This is a great tool, however, I am uncertain how I should be reading the tension. I have a belt that has 1K miles on it, and has not been retensioned. As far as I know, the tension decreases slightly as the belt is used. As such, I expect the readout to be closer the the U (used) belt spec and not the N (new) belt spec. Is this correct and should I retension the belt to the used belt spec?

The manual says to set it to the used (U) spec after 2,000 miles, so if you want to go by the book I'd just wait until then. If you are in there and need to tension now, I'd probably pick the tighter end of the used spec -- a smidge tighter than the U spec...EuroFighter2003 wrote: Thu Mar 19, 2026 9:41 am This is a great tool, however, I am uncertain how I should be reading the tension.
