Hi. I know this is quite old but I was wondering if you ever resolved this issue. Have just experienced the exact same problem on my 2024 Boxster GT 4.0. Found that even though the message comes up as coding success it either doesn't change anything on the vehicle or it works very briefly and then goes back to default operation.MXK944 wrote: Tue May 23, 2023 2:41 pm Hello,
The purpose of this message is to request some guidance from those that have successfully altered their 718 parameters with Launch X431 tool.
I purchased the X431 V+ V4.0 tool from Amazon this month. After updating the tool firmware, I attempted to change the auto start/stop to remember last state. In addition, set the gauge illumination to always on.
Following the instructions in this thread; I found correct brush hidden/modified dialog screen under system selection. I changed the settings followed by the write code command.
After power cycling the vehicle, I found the settings reverted to factory default. It would appear any changes made with X431 tool are not persistent.
Perhaps I am missing an important piece of information to make the change persistent.
The X431 firmware version is V24.10. The vehicle is a 2020 Cayman GT4

Which x431 are you using? I haven’t heard of issues with 2024s not working with x431s. What are you trying to code that is going back to default operation?LLT777 wrote: Mon Nov 11, 2024 2:48 pmHi. It is a LAUNCH X431 CRP919E BT .
I contacted the dealer I bought it from and they said after 2022 was not supported. But I am not sure if much has changed since then.
The items that don’t seem to be retained is the rear spoiler speed adjustment. And HVAC memory as I would prefer the Ac stays OFF when I restart the car. This does not seem to happen.
The other one is the “Don’t unlock all doors when opening rear/front trunk via fob or sensors” actually comes up on the scanner that this option is not available.
The dash lights always on and no off blinkers seems to work ok.

I don't think that the issue you are having relates to the fact that your 718 is a 2024. Many people on the 718forum are using the CRP919E and X and no one with a 2023 or 2024 has mentioned having an issue.LLT777 wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2024 1:32 pm It is a LAUNCH X431 CRP919E BT .

I don't know what the issue is with the spoiler speed adjustment but if you are getting an error changing these codes, it is most likely because you are not changing them in the correct order. The x431 is very finicky about the order you change the spoiler coding. For example, I received an error when I tried to increase SollPosDrehHallSp2 higher than SollPosDrehHallSp3 and SollPosDrehHallSp4. I also received similar errors trying to change the extending codes.
The issue with HVAC memory is I don't believe it is possible to save the HVAC in the “Off” setting. There are 3 choices for the HVAC Memory System – Basis Memory, Driver Memory, and Comfort Memory. The default is Comfort Memory. With Comfort Memory, the system is tied to the Comfort Seat memory. Driver Memory remembers the last setting that was used with whichever key was used the last time that key was used. Basis Memory apparently just remembers the last setting that was used for the car regardless of key. However, it will not remember that the HVAC was off.
For “Don’t unlock all doors when opening rear/front trunk via fob or sensors”, I don't know why that is not working. I originally did that on my car and had no issue. Is this the code you are changing?
Front-end Electronics: Coding value- General: Central locking opens with lid/rear lid unlocking = No {Default: Yes}
However, I am now using the following coding which I like better. The following coding unlocks the doors if you open the frunk or trunk (you will need to put the above code back to yes if you previously changed it to no). This coding also triggers the relocking function when the doors unlock as a result of opening the frunk or trunk. That way, if after opening the frunk or trunk, the doors can be opened without unlocking the car if the door is opened within 120 seconds (30 second if you don't change the second code) but if the doors are not opened within 120 seconds (30 second if you don't change the second code), the doors will automatically relock.
Front-end Electronics: Coding value- General – General, relocking starts with lid closed = Yes {Default: No}
Front-end Electronics: General parameter – Relocking time of flaps = 120 [number of second that you wish up to 255] {Default: 30}
Hi Ken
Thanks for your detailed response. I will definitely go through all of this again in the specific sequence you have given. Might be a couple of weekends away before I get the chance but will let you know how I go.
Thanks again. Brilliant forum.
Meanwhile, these adjustments are minor on a car that, even though I have had for a short time, is just sensational.

Attached is version 2 of the coding guide if you want some other adjustments you can try.LLT777 wrote: Thu Nov 14, 2024 6:11 pm Hi Ken

I have a 2019 Cayman S and am interested in the unit that you are using, the Launch X431. What is the less expensive model that you mentioned that will do all of the things in this article? And, can an average person handle these changes?Arne2 wrote: Tue Apr 11, 2023 5:45 pm I saw that there is already a coding thread using the PIWIS clone tools, so I wasn't sure if I should start another coding thread. Instead of a PIWIS, I bought a Launch X431 because they also have capabilities with other makes, such as my Audi. (Mine is a Pro v.4, but they have other less expensive models that work as well.) I've used it to do a fair amount of coding on the car, and thought I could share the details here if there is any interest. Much of what I've done is similar to coding with PIWIS, but the screens and terminology is a bit different.
Examples of what I've done are linked to the descriptions:
Comments and questions are welcome.
- Gauge illumination always on
Thanks.
