Hi,
My name is Jeff Coe and I live in Connecticut. I'm a car guy since I was a kid, mostly Muscle cars (Mopars). Always wanted and picked up my first Porsche in 1993, a 1987 Black 944 Turbo. I joined PCA then as well. I sold the 944 and picked up my first 968 in 1996. I have owned a dozen 968s since and currently own 3 (a mint green cab, and a speed yellow and white coupe). I joined the PCA 968 Register when it was launched in 1998 and took over as Advocate back in 2012. I currently have almost 800 members in the group. I'm an active member in my local PCA region (Connecticut Valley) and regularly participate in PCA and other automotive related activities. I worked in banking for 38 years and was laid off 2 years ago so I retired early. The wife's daily is a 17 Macan, I just picked up a 23 MB GLA AMG 45 as my new daily and I still have one old muscle car, a 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A. Life is good. Looking forward to the forum.

Hi Jeff,
Welcome to Carpokes! You’ll find a lot of 944/968 owners and aficionados here. Please feel free to extend a warm invite to any of your PCA 968 folks as well. If you feel so inclined, please post photos of your cars.
Best,
Larry

Great background Jeff! So glad you found Carpokes and joined up. There are a lot of great people here sharing experiences and knowledge and I imagine that your immense background in 968s (a dozen!!) and the trials and tribs you've gone through will prove helpful to many.

We are a picture-friendly site (no 3rd party hosting site needed) and encourage lots of photos, so post as you wish. Tom's helpful pic posting guide: viewtopic.php?t=410

Hi, Karoserist, and good to have you join the merry crew. Old Porsches are like 'old dogs' (very GOOD boys) and IMHO are some of the best of the P-car products. Although I find myself lusting after the dazzling new Cayman, I am a die-hard 914 recidivist, through and through! A car isn't well-broken in until it's a half-century old...
Hi thanks,
I'm a fan of 914 too. I have 2 waiting to be rostored :)

Hi everyone, thanks for greeting me on your forum. All the resources will be very helpful in restoring my 944. I own it since 2018 and never heard it run still. I'm getting closer though !

Wish me luck
Bonjour Hicham, et bienvenue chez CARPOKES ! Puisque tu es de Glenoble et NON de Paris, ça ne me dérange pas de t'infliger mon français horrible et (généralement) incorrect ! Just between you and I, another car I have long admired (there are SO many) is the ubiquitous Citroën 2CV (no, not the fascinating 2CV Barchetta, see attached image!)! But one with a 500 BHP Dodge Hemi stuffed into it, LoL! My next-door neighbor owns a French 60s era roadster, so in atypical 1914 style, he and I gaze at each other through fieldglasses, over the trench-tops and barbed-wire entanglements, now and then...but NO! We are actually very amicable, he and I, despite the yawning gulf between the 'French school' and its German counterpart, LoL. ;)

With your background in automotive mechanical technology, I'm sure you'll find CARPOKES quite an engaging experience! [PS: One of these days ask me about 'Daniella', the French Aerospatial helicopter mechanic I met in Saudi Arabia in the mid-80s, who was a begrimed grease-monkey during the day (on the flightline) and a devastatingly beautiful Cinderella, at the Riyadh French evening embassy soirees, tee-hee!]

Que toute la chance que vous demandez vous soit gracieusement accordée en abondance, et laissez-nous entendre ce que vous pensez pendant que l'esprit vous pousse sur COWPOKES !

To echo a comment already made..."A dozen 968s?" YOIKS! I'd say that with a taste for Porsches like that, it's a bloody good job you were in the banking world, LoL! Good to hear of your involved activity w/PCA, since so many PCA'ers seem to eschew taking any role in active membership aside from participating in tours. However, each to (their) own, I guess. We need more of your marque dedication and car enthusiast spirit throughout the rather wide Porsche spectrum!

One of my undergrad college profs who was a big Arthur Schopenhauer proponent might argue the "Life is good" hypothesis, but since life is what one makes of it (existentially speaking), I think most of us would agree with that statement! Good to have you amongst us, the few, the good and the dedicated Porscheoholics (NOTE: Not directly synonymous with "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly", LoL)! :)

PS: Hope you enjoy the most tender, juicy and cooked-to-perfection Meleagris gallopavo domesticus available on this national day of 'Thankful gluttony', here in America!
