Probably based on past experience. I really dislike the old school tail light panels. They were cheaply made and fit badly.

I don't see the logic in modernising the rear of a 944, when the front end would stay pretty much original. It would perhaps work on a 968, if the front end was modified with a 993 headlamp/wing conversion.
