Occupation: consulting engineer for large-scale IP networks.
Became obsessed with Porsches while attending the 24 hours at Daytona in 1980. Plus two of my colleagues at my new job out of college owned multiple Porsches.
Current fun rides: 2021 Boxster T, 2022 Mini Cooper Countryman JCW (wife’s car, she used to drive a Macan Turbo), 2022 Mini Cooper S Hardtop 2dr.
Past Porsches:
1984 944 - Sapphire Blue Metallic - This one started it all in 1985 with 4k miles on the clock
1997 C2S - Black - The one I wish I hadn’t sold.
2000 Boxter S - Speed Yellow
2002 C4S - Polar Silver
2003 Carrera Cab - Black
2008 Boxster RS60 Spyder - GT Silver
2011 Boxster Spyder - White
2012 991 S Cab - Dark Blue Metallic
2014 Boxster S - White
2015 Macan Turbo - Black
2016 Boxster Spyder - White
2021 Macan Turbo - White
2022 Cayman GTS 4.0l - Aventurine Green Metallic
Welcome aboard -- great to have you! I retired early myself and there are plenty of retired car diehards here.atatexan wrote: Tue Oct 18, 2022 6:47 pm [/img][/img]This looks like a fun group, my kind of place. I am a mostly retired commercial aircraft exec. I mainline cars, always have thanks to my late mother. Oh, this is Porsche forum. Better establish my marque bonafides. Crappy 1969 911T Targa in college, when I wised up and had more money - 1969 911S Targa (the one I let get away), and then a 1980 911SC coupe (no more leaky targa tops for me); sunroof a great substitute. Until recently, it was all Mercedes: 1975 Euro 350SE, 1992 Euro 300CE-24 Sportline with 5-speed Getrag, and an SLK320 6-speed (911 substitute). Then I bought a friend’s 2015 Cayenne. Back in the fold. Still own the Mercs, however.
Tim, where is that track? I'm not too far from Huntsville but not familiar with that one. I used to run my Bimmers at Little Talledega down below Anniston.blueline wrote: Wed Oct 05, 2022 8:35 pm Tim in Tennessee. Porsches nowadays but an old Corvette guy in the past. Still racing a bit in WRL and ChampCar with my friends out of Huntsville, but mostly enjoying track days in the GT4. Lots of good tracks in these parts and more on the way!
2019 Cayenne Turbo
2021 718 GT4
2022 992 TTS
The GT4 early morning waiting to get on track at a fine, 19-turn technical (and peaceful) dream of a track in the middle of nowhere.
Bill it's Polecat - PTC (Polecat Training Center/Polecat Training Academy) between Lynchburg and Fayetteville (which is actually closer to Huntsville than my home near Nashville). It's a private facility that opened this year using rebuilt former Skip Barber and Bertil Roos open wheel Formula 2000 cars for Polecat's training classes.Bill in Bama wrote: Wed Oct 19, 2022 12:36 amTim, where is that track?
