Today I got my Frog venom rear spoiler back from the paint shop. It looks good, I want to mount it but resisting so I can let the paint dry.

Here it is mocked up.
It looks great!

I know you haven't mounted it yet but I'm curious - how is it attached/mounted?

I love it! I am the king of useless stuff for cars....but it's what makes it special.

Hey Tim,
On the GT4, when you lift the back flap there are 6 torx screws pointing down on the front side of the spoiler. Simply unscrerw the six torx and pull the wing up/off.

On the non-GT4 cars the wing sits on top of a platform that holds the two lift arms. To remove hit the button on the center console to raise the spoiler. Remove six torx screws that are pointing back, the rear of the spoiler sort of hooks on to the lift platform. To then remove simply pull the spoiler back.

Pretty good design with these parts, no surprise there. FV has dense rubber pads to make sure where it hooks is super secure. I need to add some U-nuts to the FV before final install. the tabs on the FV spoiler are thicker that the stock piece so the factory U-nuts don't fit well. I grabbed larger U-nuts yesterday from the hardware store that look like they might do it. Will try later today. Spoiler is currently sitting out in the sun.

Side question, anyone have a favorite manual transmission gear oil of the 75w-90 synthetic variety? Considering Motoul 300 or the factory fill from the dealer. Dealer stuff is twice the price but unclear what is actually in the bottles.

Interesting regarding the differences in the two setups Jeremy. I knew about the spoiler attachment on the GT4 (mine has 4 torx screws rather than 6) but I didn't have any idea how fitment would be on non GT cars. It appears to be mostly straightforward with FV's excellent product. All I know is that from your picture It looks identical to a GT4. I like it!

Regarding the trans gear oil, I just let Porsche use the factory lubricants but I have absolutely no doubt that Motul's product is every bit as good or even better. Heck, who knows - Motul might even be a Porsche OEM supplier for some lubricants. The high-end product manufacturers often work closely with OEM auto companies to develop specific formulations requested by the OEM's. (Just like "N" spec tires for Porsche's and other tire letter specs for Mercedes, Ferrari, etc.)

We are both using Motul RBF 660 for our Caymans' brake systems due to the harsher demands of track days, so who's to say that their trans lubes are not also better for hard use? Maybe, although for transmissions (and other components) I feel that the frequency of fluid/oil change is the more important factor, assuming a top tier, high-quality product is being used.

Great points made Tim, thanks. More digging through the old forums it appears the factory stuff from the dealer 000-043-305-49 is "Fuchs Titan Sintopoid 75W90". Viscosity @40C 108, @100C 15.3

Motoul gear 300 75-w90 Viscosity @40C 86.5 @100C 14.2.

The Motoul is available the same local shop that I get the 660 brake fluid so I may just hit the easy button and go grab that.

Changed my transaxle oil today with Motoul gear 300 75-90, the non limited slip variety. From my reading these transaxles do better without the additive. Will add driving impressions one I have some time on it, currently the battery is on the charger on the desulfate/recondition mode as I think this battery is on its last legs. After a drive the battery is only at 12.0 volts when it should be close 12.6 volts. Been reading about the weight savings of the Antigravity batteries but just not sure if the juice is with the squeeze.

Little embarrassing posting this right after J-Dub's epic new spoiler ha... I am channeling my inner James May and wanted to get a little brush to keep in my Glovebox for cleaning/dusting the vents and buttons etc. All the ones I seen that are for cars are like $20 to $30+ ... So I bought a cheap make up brush (was a little awkward), and then put my matte cayman decal on it I had left over.

All together... Less than $9.00 :)
