I never use the cup holder in my 992 so I’m using it as a mounting location for a MagSafe phone holder.

I’m probably going to use a MagSafe charger inside the console, as I occasionally have a coffee while driving so the one cup holder is needed. No spill Contigo cup to be safe.

Here's another option to consider - RAM Mounts.
I've found Ram's products to be versatile and well-made. Their dual ball swivel design is good and is interchangeable between different Ram devices too, such as suction mounts for cameras, track data recorders, camera roll bar mounts, etc.
This seat insert base is padded with a soft but durable surface - won't scratch anything. It's easy to move from car-to-car, fully adjustable - will swivel in pretty much any desired direction, doesn't get in the way of the passenger, and there's an inflatable insert that allows it to be used in a vehicle that has a wider gap between seat and console.

I have, and have had for close to two years now, a phone holder made by ProClip. Proclip P/N 855569
I also purchased a generic "Magnetic Car Phone Mount" from Amazon.
I have found this combination convenient, easy to use and also easy to remove and reinstall when/if necessary provided you do NOT use the double sided tape ProClip supplies with this mount. The double-sided tape is not needed IMHO.
It does not interfere either with the driver or the passenger.

Alas, these options only work for PDK. Guess I’m stuck with the center console option, since I row my own gears.

I've mentioned this elsewhere on Carpokes and I don't intend to beat a dead horse, but there is an alternative that I posted on another Carpokes phone mounting thread. It also involves Ram products but is not the same as the one I mentioned earlier in this thread.
I realize that many don't like windshield suction mounts, but good ones such as Ram Mounts do offer a viable option. Suction also eliminates potential damage if attaching mounts to interior components. Another advantage using Ram is that they are highly configurable and interchangeable. They are very well-made and high quality.
So, one option would involve pairing a correctly sized X-Grip bracket to their suction mount. The X-Grip works perfectly for my phone and holds it securely; Ram's suction mount is strong and won't let go either. It's almost infinitely adjustable too, facilitating mounting in an optimum position for your needs. It's also easy to move the setup between different vehicles.
I have an AiM bracket holding the Aim unit pictured on the suction mount but you can interchange mounts (such as the X-Grip phone mount) and brackets as needed. Lots of options and accessories with RAM products. I have another of their mounts holding an AiM SmartyCam to the roll cage. (AiM supplies Ram mounts as the mounting option with many of their data loggers and cameras.) Ram mounts are flexible and are top notch based on my experience.
