Hi everyone!
I'm Jannes or Belgian951, as you've guessed: from Belgium.
Last year around December, I purchased my first Porsche. It was a long search, and initially I went after a 924S from the last generation, with 160 HP. Because I couldn't find one, and I was tired of going to Germany to source a car, I decided I'd try to find a 944 turbo instead.
This was unexpectedly an easier car to find in Belgium, and after visiting quite a few, I decided to pull the trigger on an example that still had a lot of work to be done, but which had good bones. To this day, I still believe the car has good bones, and a lot of work has already been done.
It's a 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo in bordeaux red. I must say it wasn't my first pick of color, but many people compliment it.
I've bought this car to restore, and I'll do all the work myself - save for some unexpected unforeseen circumstance. I don't plan on repainting it any time soon, the paint is still good, not great though as it has multiple blemishes.
Because this is the first car I'm actually working on myself, I have little experience, many questions, and many more tools to buy. This is a 10 year plan to restore so I'm not in a hurry. Although I do want to get this car on the road again!
At the moment it suffers from a busted turbo crossover pipe, which caused me to fail emissions and cost me a lot of money. But one day, it'll drive and I'll be in it!
Hi from Belgium!

I'm quite impressed with your proposed undertaking - love the last sentence of your post and am pulling for you to beat your 10-year time horizon so you can reach that goal sooner. As Larry said, there are lots of capable and skilled and friendly folks to help with any questions you might have.

Thanks everyone! I sure hope to beat that 10 year mark too, at least for getting it back on the road. But the car purchase also occurred as my wife was pregnant, so I envision this car passing to my (now almost 1 year old) son or at least it'll be a me & him project for us to enjoy together.
