I have a 1957 356A T1 that was a barn find that had been sitting 43 years. It was Outlawed back in late 60's early 70's and I am keeping it an outlaw. You can follow my build on Instagram @stone_city_outlaw

Welcome aboard! Great project! Please keep us updated here on carpokes as well, as many of us are not all that Insta-focused. If you start your own thread on the project, I'll feature it in our next newsletter to get plenty of eyes on it and your Insta channel. :)

P.s. that motor reminds me of the old Maestro (Harry Pellow) book pictures. He had a very unique writing style -- and I think I read them all twice back in the day.

I'm new to Porsche-recently purchased a 2013 911 Carrera S Cabriolet. I love it-maybe a little too much-LOL. My wife is calling it my "mistress." It's amazing to see the Porsche badge on my steering wheel and realize I'm finally in a Porsche of my own. Very excited to immerse myself in all things Porsche. I've recently completed a couple of easy upgrades and it's exciting to feel the accomplishment of a couple DIY projects-even if they are super simple. My next venture will be to replace the driver's side power button switch. I'm getting the tools and the switch. Now I just have to watch a hundred YouTube videos, so I don't screw the job up. Any suggestion on this project will be gratefully appreciated.
Welcome aboard and congrats on getting your dream car! One of our Carpokeans does high quality videos, and did the one linked below on removing the 991 door card if that's of help getting to your switch.

Hey Tom, first I don’t want to hear anything about weather in South Florida, my family lives in SW Florida and I like to hang up on them when they say how nice it is. Lol

Will start a thread and start posting pictures. I have over 1500 so far. Lol. Won’t post them all.

As for the engine funny you say that. I’ve read his books and had Competition Engineering in California do all the machine work. Ray Litz was a good friend of the Harry’s and did machine work for Harry and Harry talks about Ray in his video and books. Rays nephew Walt now owns the shop. Great guy. I had Walt machine and source parts,ie 86mm cylinders, 9.5 pistons, torque cam, etc then I assembled the engine to what you see.

Thanks, Tom.
I forget the name of that racing supply store too. So many niche businesses in that area like Ellsworth and Custom Alignment. Harald VonK was quite a guy, doing parallel engineering/design on turbocharging with the Porsche factory in the 70s. It took me a few years to move from my Datsun 280Z to my 911.
I gave up on Rennlist years ago. I will still check out their cars for sale every once in awhile. Pelican is more useful but is filled with grumpy old guys who would rather complain about the world than talk about cars. I like what I see here.

Hello,
I don’t usually post but do enjoy reading other posts and talking with others who enjoy the brand as much as I do.

Newest and only current fun car: 2020 Gt Silver Spyder w/red top, 6sp. I enjoy that car so much. I work a number of hours, and I find myself thinking of driving that car when I have a few minutes to reflect. Several years ago, I found the brand when I bought 2008 Carrera. I put 60k miles on that car, and then upgraded to a 74 Carrera (us spec)…sold both of them…got into a 991.1 Carrera S, then traded and bought a 2007 997.1 TT. Fun car, but I needed a 6sp…and found the Spyder. I have a whole new appreciation for Porsche because of the Spyder.

Thanks for joining up and for posting - it's a friendly group of people that I think you will enjoy!

Nice background story - many of us are on the newer side of the Porsche ownership experience and we gain much from the input of others who have been around the marque for decades, as well as from other more recent converts to the Porsche universe.

I am a recently retired State of California administrator.
I have been involved in Porsche activities since 1977 when I was the shop go-for at RaceTech in Mountain View. They had a legendary beast 914-6 Turbo that ran in PCA and POC time trials and did one IMSA event at Searspoint.
I own a 1970 911S which I have owned since 1986. Many modifications including big brakes (Alcon/928 S4 front, 930 rear), 2.8 MFI, 7 and 9 Fuchs. I will post some pictures soon.
My journey has included Rennlist, Pelican and now here.
I’m a fellow Californian. Thanks for joining Carpokes and becoming part of our friendly Porsche community.

Now that race supply shop is going to eat at me... It had a red logo I seem to recall. Loved that place -- in pre-Internet days, they had stuff you couldn't find anywhere else. That whole area used to be car-guy heaven. :) Although... I had Ellsworth do a block for me, but didn't realize they had lost their magic by then and they ended up ruining a very nice 968 block. First they melted the front of the block trying EDM-out a broken water pump stud, but then they machined a groove the length of one of the cylinders -- easily 2 or 3 mm deep and wide. With no evidence, I always wondered if alcohol was involved because the delivered the block to me like that and apparently didn't even notice. What are you gonna do...

Looks like Pelican has succumbed to the hot-talk radio syndrome with a "politics and religion' forum, which of course has more posts than most of their other forums combined, mostly from the angry fringes saying angry fringe things. Encouraging controversies creates posts, sure, but all of that stuff ends up permeating the whole board in my opinion. But I digress (again). Suffice to say, you've come to the right place! We're an upbeat group here, with an ever-growing tech and membership base, along with an esprit de corps that drives a little extra effort to help each other on all things Porsche. Tell your friends!
